Hi all. I have a fat loss goal of 97 pounds. (insert sounds of sobbing and head banging off keyboard). I've been "trying" to lose that weight for so long now I've about given up.
Seven years ago I went on the jenny diet (will never make THAT mistake again) which resulted, after 18 months, in a loss of 58 pounds. I was never so hungry in my whole life and TIRED! I had NO energy at all. I fought for the last 5 years to keep it off but it has almost all crept back on. Then I got my Flex.
For xmas hubby gave me the Aria so between the two I now have to face facts. Sitting on my backside is what's keeping the weight slowly creeping upwards.
I've started back at my local gym on the treadmill. I still haven't reached 10,000 steps in one day yet. The highest I've managed has been about 7500. My daily average when I don't do much is about 2800. So there's a slight improvement.
I also started tracking my food intake on my dashboard. That was a revelation when coupled with how much energy I'd burned during the day. It's one thing to "know" that calories and movement determine your weight. It's a whole other thing to actually see the numbers. Can't hide from THAT truth.
Anyway. I have set my goals and am aiming for 2 pounds fat loss a week. Anyone care to join me?

I got my fitbit as a Christmas gift. I'm trying to figure out all of the bells and whistles that come with this band. I also need to loose weight. I have been sick so haven't really gotten off the couch. I'm starting to feel better so will start walking more and more each day. Stay strong

I'm in too, i have 35-40 lbs too lose, i have a very emotionally but loved job as a high school counselor, I take too much on and don't take care of my self. My 24 year old son bought me the flex (I think) for Christmas. I'm not very techy but am eager to get fit and feel better. We all can take a piece from each others stories and apply it to our own lives. Together we can do this....let our life journey begin. I suggest we suck it up, do the measurements (mine were shocking), journal and make a committment to ourselves. Ask Nike says... just do it!!

Hi Darleen,
I would love to join you. Don't think I can do 2 pounds per week but I am trying to be motivated. I like you lost most of my weight and gained it back over the last two years. Darn it. If we can keep in contact through this community maybe we can help keep each other motivated. Good luck. Here we go...

I'm onboard as well! I have 90 pounds to lose, although I'd be quite thrilled if I could hit even 50. I need to be more active and more responsible about what I'm putting in my face.
Glad to meet you all and glad to share the journey with you.

Count me in! Let's do this! Also got my Flex for Christmas. I am 56 years old and have slowly put on the 70 lbs I want to loose over the past twenty years. I am in Texas and went through the Quick Weight Loss program (which I expensive) till I couldn't take any more. I lost 40 lbs which have all returned. Thus starting the yoyo effect. My biggest problem is getting up and getting active. I have just given up and sat (more like plopped) down. I do what HAS to be done and that is all. I dislike myself and my weight and that just adds to the weight gain and the cycle of self destructuion. I have lost interest in just about everything. I don't want to spend the second half of my life like this. I have a vision of myself I want to attain and it is as an active healthy person who is confident again. I was told I am pre-diabetic and certainly don't want to go down that path. Like you I want to do this the sensible way to avoid the yoyo dieting. I have never blogged or joined a community (just not a joiner) but I think this group is great and I am excited to begin this journey with you all! LET'S DO THIS TOGETHER!

Count me in! My Story. I am also tired of the up and down of diets. I am almost 90# overweight. I have no ambition and feel tired and crapy. I need to do something new and start the next big challenge in my life. (My first is that I quit smoking in July 2012 and have not touched a cig since - yes, proud!) I need help with motivation to get my butt off the couch and being active. My hubby gave me the fitbit force for Christmas and I love it; but I am not quit sure how to use it to its full potential. I don't have a treadmil (want one bad!) but I do have Wii fit and created a profile on there with the goal to lose 2lbs a week.

I would love to join. I have been playing the weight loss game for most of my life. I have tried it all, WW, Bodybugg, trainers at the gym... i have weight everything from 165 to 265. Currently I weigh 210 and am a year out of back surgery. Sadly I was 178 before my surgery and since then it has been an uphill battle. I would love to have support to reach my goals and be back in One-derland!
We recently moved, my dad is going through chemo, work is a hot mess as the union rep... I need to figure out how to de-stress and reset my life!
We have also been trying to start a family and I think the weight and stress are part of the problem of why that is not working either.
We just joined a new gym, Planet Fitness and I need to go at least 3x a week. I also need to stop eating whatever I want. I want so much to be disciplined, but lately I have struggled so much with it!

Count me in too......I am 51 years old and need to lose 35lbs. A month ago I joined Planet Fitness and my husband soon followed. I have not lost any weight due to the holiday eating but I feel healthier. Now I am sticking strictly to my Paleo Diet and I am going to the gym four times a week. I got the Flex for Christmas and I'm motivated to combine the diet and exercise......for some reason I've done one or the other, not both.

I'd love to join your group. My weight loss goal isn't a christmas wish (bought my "one" with my Hanukah gelt!) But I could really use the added incentive that a community can provide. I have lost 18 lbs and need to lose another 28lbs. In August my Doctor told me ( 18 lbs ago) that carbohydrates are not my friends! Unfortunately, I'm a vegetarian so I need to figure out how to make them at least "friend adjacent"!

Hi! I'd love to join this group! I am 42 years old and have 30 lbs to lose, which crept up on me after my pregnancies and moving from a fairly active job to mainly sitting at a desk.
I work out with a trainer 3 x a week, when I'm not travelling for work, and do a spin class once a week.
I have gained weight since I started with the trainer! I can't stop eating!!
My husband gave me the fitbit1 for Christmas and I love it!
I am looking forward to getting and giving support to all the others on this journey!
Thanks for starting this group!
