Hi!
I'm trying to lose 75 pounds, hopefully at a rate of 1.5 pounds per week. I started on my journey a week and a half ago and I'm currently down 3.6 pounds. I'm looking forward to a healthier lifestyle and if you want friends for extra motivation feel free to add me. 🙂

Okay everyone....
Wow, lots of posts since I've last been here. Had a tough last week but managed to lose the pound I'd gained the week prior and it's been hot and I've been lazy. Met most of my goals but not all and then ended the week yesterday with a HUGE binge on Chinese food (it was my birthday and I wanted Chinese LOL)
So, this week's goals are:
September is here and I know we've enjoyed our challenges in the past. I'm throwing this one out there and we'll see if it sticks...
CHALLENGE
For each week in September, you must increase your total weekly steps to more than the week prior. It doesn't matter by how much or how you achieve it you just need to achieve it.
So, if this weeks ends with you having done 70k steps, the next week needs to end with at least 70k plus one.
This is the challenge I present to you for the month of September. Week for me starts every Monday so I'll be posting every Monday how I did the week prior. Probably at the same time I post my upcoming week's goals

Hi All,
I'm new to this forum, so just wanted to pop in to say Hi. Looks like we are all pretty much in the same boat, so to speak. I've had my Charge HR for about a month now. In total, I'm down just under 9lbs. It seems like an eternity just to get there. Due to my career, I only log, on average, 5000 steps a day.
Any advice for a newbie?

I'm a newbie too.. Only my 2nd day.. I gotta say this is addicting!!!! I love my Fitbit and am probably more confident to lose the 75 lbs I want to lose than I have been in a long long time!!!

I have had my Fitbit almost 3 months and I am down 24 lbs. Still have 72 to go, but I feel like with the Fitbit encouragement, and support, and logging every bite, I am going to get to goal.
I have upped my step goals to 11,500, I work at a desk so this is challenging for me, but I make it and often end up at 13K or more.

Hey Annie! Congrats for upping your step count! I work at a desk as well and it's sooooo hard to get 10k steps in! It really needs dedication and regular trips to the water cooler that is allllll the way at the other side of the office building! LOL
I've added an at home workout now and yesterday that alone gave me 2k plus the walks with my dog at 2k each (at least)... baby steps, right?!
And I'll be around with you for a while too... also have about 40-50lbs to go after losing 55 lbs since January. It's been slow and steady which is nice... but can really drive me nuts sometimes! You think you are not moving forward - but you do! It's like watching gras grow!
Hang in there and keep walkin'

Hi all I've had my Charge HR for barely over a week and so far I am really loving it. I've lost about a pound and a half, walking every day on my breaks at work. Overall I've got about 50 pounds more to lose after already losing a little more than 50.
If any of you all want to add me I love having more challenges, my goals this week are to keep at 10,000 steps every day and to have less than 70 grams of sugar every day (I have a sweet tooth - but I'm getting a little tired of My Fitness Pal telling me every day that I'm eating too much sugar )

Nice job Brigit,
I too walk with my dog, we do a mile in the morning at 5:30 and another when I get home around 5pm, I park almost a quarter mile from my office at the far end of the parking lot and go out to my truck at least once per day. use the bathrooms and water cooler in another building on another floor, I get 12-22 floors in a day. I am just keeping at it. and the weight is coming off again.

Hi Lisa,
I have 60lbs to lose to hit ONEderland . . .it's been my ultimate goal! I have been reading your story through the forums. I was well on my way, down 35lbs then got pregnant with twins. Now I am back to where I was and need to get motivated to do this. I am also using the Lose it app. Do you notice the difference in remaining calories once they sync up. I noticed the fit bit app gives you a bigger allowance for consumption. Which calorie intake do you follow?

I know this was a few weeks ago . . .I just got my fitbit charge HR after two defective charges . . .My goal this week is hit 10K steps each day. So far I have met my goal Sun/Mon/Tues . . .off to hit my next goal today of 10K.
I have 60lbs to lose and would love any help. Just reading these forums is inspiring. My problem is getting the motivation to do anything at night. I work full-time; have 1 year old twin girls; have a part time home business that I work on when the girls are in bed for the night. Life just seems so busy. I've started to take lunch time walks while at work. It's a nice refresher especially walking on the boardwalk down by the lake.
One day at a time. Trying to focus on my meals. Night time snacking is what kills me. I'm trying to cancel that out.

Since January you have lost 55lbs!!! I hope you have given yourself a pat on the back - more than once!! That's incredible. Congrats!! What is your secret? I am looking to lose 15 by Christmas. I think that's reasonable.

So, I signed up for my first 5k today. The company I work for has a team, and they sent out an invite for anyone who wanted to join and they pay the fee, which is pretty cool. I am going to walk it with my husband, who works with me at the same company. I'm nervous, because I just completed my first 3 mile walk about 2 weeks ago after not having walked that far in about 25 years. I still have to stop and rest about 1/2 way through, but I'm determined to finish. It's 9/19, wish me luck!

So...the results are in! My little experiment as I was convinced my flex was giving me too many steps!
Day 1 Flex 12789 (dominant wrist-dominant setting) Zip 10954
Day 2 Flex 10570 (non dominant wrist-non dominant setting Zip 7588
Day 3 Flex 7047 (non dominant wrist- dominant setting Zip 6613
I had been wearing the flex on my dominant wrist and was getting lots of extra steps. No wonder I wasn't losing weight. The figures certainly prove that non-dominant wrist with the dominant (most sensitive) setting is the most accurate. I was consistently losing with the Zip and only when I changed to the flex did I stop losing. I reckon the Day 3 setting gives an acceptable variation which is what I would expect when comparing wrist based and clip on trackers. I think I might go back to my trusty Zip though, just for peace of mind x I use my hands lots as I am a music teacher so I'm playing the piano or hitting drums etc etc and I'm not sure doing that every day is compatible with a wrist based tracker x
Update! Kept going with my experiment. The flex on the non-dominant arm but set to dominant (least sensitive) seems to give a result within a couple of hundred steps with the Fitbit Zip. Success. Now I feel more confident and I now know where all my thousands of extra steps were coming from! I had deleted and then downloaded the fitbit phone app and it had automatically set my wrist to non dominant. Non dominant setting when worn on either wrist creates a huge amount of additional steps! So now you know 🙂

Hi all - Tomorrow is my one month anniversary with the fitbit Surge and I've been watching this thread for a few weeks now and have finally decided to join in.
Hayleycan - my favorite breakfast in a scrambled egg in half a slice of pita bread with cheese. sounds decadent right? Well, I must confess, it's one of those safeway frozen healthy/organic prepackaged things. At 150 calories, and just so easy to prepare...that's what I usually have....and coffee. I've whittled down to one cup a day and I like it first thing. I track my food like a fiend. I use the fitbit tracker. it doesn't go in my mouth unless it's been recorded. I'm not depriving myself at all, I just track the heck out of it. 🙂 I L-O-V-E that barcode reader, just makes it so easy.
A daily checkin would be awesome! I haven't gotten into the challenges yet. Mostly bc I'm super competitive and am trying to stay away from the angst and self loathing that would arise from that. (just a personal choice).
I also have the fitbit scale. I get on it everymorning, but I don't always look at the number. I LOVE that it records it for me and I can look at it when I feel like it, yet it tracks my progress and keeps me honest as I don't have to physically type in the number. I don't put too much stock into any given number, rather I'm just looking for that downward trend. I had a week where my daily habits were consistend, but my wt just stayed stagnant. I just continued to be consistent and the next week, my totals were dropping like mad! It's a nice boost to your day when you see the correct trend and the days it's not...I just don't go look at it.
So, just wanted to give a brief introduction and say hello, and I've already likely been too wordy.

Aww thank you so much!! I actually didnt give myself credit for the 55 lbs lost until I made a before and mid way collage (I still want to lose 40-50 lbs)... and when I saw this I thought. "yeah. you did well!"
Secret? Well... I started out slowly with gentle yoga and walking with fitbit. Eating was the most important thing for me. I knew if I got the eating right, the weight would come off. And it did.
Then I stalled about 20 lbs ago. The scale wasnt moving so I felt I had to switch things up. I signed up with a personal coach - she is a really good friend now and got me into working out using an "at home" program combining Yoga and Pilates. She also got me into a new routine with my meal plan. I added a protein shake as meal replacement. In the past I had skimped on that and bought cheaper stuff at the drugmart. Some were gritty, some just meh... the shake she got me hooked up with I absolutely love and use it every day. Sometimes "straight up" and today mixed with spinach and fruit to make a smoothie. Sometimes I make protein apple-carrot muffins with it for a breakfast option or mix it in my morning cereal... so many options. Anyway...
The pounds started coming off again and I am quite happy with this new lifestyle. My physical and mental health has changed so much that I have actually decided to become a Yoga Teacher (my certified training starts later this month) and a personal coach to motivate others to live healthier, happier and reach their own, personal goals. 🙂
And all that in just 8 months... LOL... I dont think there has been ANY year in my life since Kindergarten where I made so many amazing changes in my life!

Anyone else struggling to lose weight on antidepressants? I'm so hungry all the time and find it so difficult to stick to my calorie allowance. I did well from mon-fri but have just had another massive binge. Why do I sabotage myself like this? It's so frustrating 😞
