limited Calorie intake

I am going extreme to lose weight and would like to hear from others that are doing the same. This is my first time doing this, so I'm no pro. If you have insights, I would love to hear them. I limit my calories to 400-600 a day. In doing so, the pounds are literally melting off. I have lost 12.9lbs in 10 days! Breakfast is my biggest meal unless I'm planning on going for a run after work, then I save my protein for lunch so I can sustain a run. I usually have 100 calorie bowl of cereal at 5:00 for dinner, and don't eat anything after that, only consume water. I started my weightloss journey at 211.7 pounds and my goal weight is 160.

I think you should figure out what your BMR is. Your body needs likely at least 1200 cals a day for your organs to work properly. For example, I am about 150lbs 5'8". My BMR (if I am sitting and doing nothing) is around 1400 cals. Depending on your weight/health, this number could be more or less. So I know I cannot go below 1400 cals without causing my body some harm. 

 

I would say also that if the weight is melting off, that it is likely not a sustainable diet. I think you should work towards a calorie deficit of maybe 400 cals a day to lose weight slowly. I would think your ultimate goal would be a healthy and sustainable lifestyle, and  I just don't see how eating 800 cals a day is sufficient. 

 

If you are unsure where to start, talk to a doctor or maybe even a dietitian. I hate to see you have issues in the long run since you are trying to be healthy.

Glad to read that you are going to learn about adaptive thermogenisis. Happy to read that you are slowly increasing healthy food. Veggies, the non starchy ones, are my friends since I can eat them and feel full. We need to find a healthy way to lose and eat for life. 

I have found that eating less than 1200, once or twice a week, helps me lose weight.
