looking for friends - 50s and female and getting fabulous!

Hi!  I'm looking for some friends for motivation and support.  I'm 51, female, and working on losing 30 lbs.  My A1c is pre-diabetic so I'm shedding some weight to try and get it under control.

Anyone?

I absolutely love the fitbit!  Keeps me motivated watching the step count.  On inactive days, I just get more determined to do more the following day to make up for it.  Ive had it for about a year and a half now, and still look forward to seeing my step count.  Thanks to all of my friends that cheer me and taunt me and offer words of wisdom and encouragement!  Flylow21-Judy

Frauline_annie and KDarone-dont get down on yourselves-you can do this.  Just take one small step at a time.  The fitbit is a great way to increase your physical activity.  I absolutely love the challenge of reaching my daily goal.  Small steps can be lifetime changes.  Nothing will resolve all of your problems (or mine too) overnite...one step at a time!  Keep Steppin'  you can add me as a friend if you like...I too am on thyroid meds, perimenapasal, will be 50 very soon and need to lose another 40-50 pounds!  Yikes, I better get steppin!

Hello Frauline_annie and KDarone

Add me as a friend! I am 56, in menopause and I have lost 25 pounds since March. I need to lose another 40. I have found it very hard to get 10,000 steps in every day unless I exercise and walk after dinner. I hope the maintenance phase won't be as brutal!

Kemery,

I am also trying to lose 65lbs. I just began 2 days ago. I was in bed for three years and had many surgeries and organs removed and/or altered. At the moment 5,000 steps a day is a good goal. I am aiming for 10,000 but it seems very far away!

All the best,

I got it a year ago and used it intermittently. Now that I am using it again, I am motivated to get at least 10,000 steps a day.

I was surprised after a day of teaching and walking around, I was only able to get about 5,000 miles. Now, I walk with a friend at the HS track in the evenings and the 10,000 steps is easy to get. The track is lit at night, and we don't even go that fast. The trick for me is to have someone to walk with. We are so busy that this is a perfect excuse to catch up.

It's not worth getting hurt by trying to rush it. In time, do a little more each day until you reach your goal. It took me a while to get there, and I don't even make it every day.

I am 52 and new to fitbit.  Loving it.  Also I was recently diagnosed diabetic.  I have also been diagnosed with a fatty liver.  Two big reasons to get my butt in gear and shed those unwanted pounds.  I couldnt for the life figure out why I kept gaining even though I was doing everything right including premaking my meals and going to the gym 5-6 times a week to lift and cardio.  Now I know why.  I quit a job that threw my body into chaos.  I worked shift (12 hrs, 3days, 3 off, and switched to 3 nights)  I never felt right.  But as you know with this economy and the fact it it paid really well it was hard to leave.  I decided, finally, I had to do it for my health.  Unfortunately I am dealing with the repocussions now.

Better late than never I guess lol.  Add me if you like and anyone else who would like to as well.  We will get through this together.

I am 51 and have also been having a hard time losing weight. I got my blood drawn and I'm prediabetic, but my thyroid and hormones are normal. Time to make some lifestyle changes. The fitbit is helping me to become more active.

I think it's great that you have a pool @ your gym. What a fun way to start the day. Our gym is kind of far and it is a small pool. For now I am trying to just walk alot. Does the fitbit work in a pool? I just got mine and am still learning!

My fitbit works just great in the pool. That was one of the selling points for me. I wear it everytime I'm in there.

"Flex is water resistant and can be submerged up to 10 meters." This was in the help files. Perfectly o.k. to use in the pool : )
