looking for friends - 50s and female and getting fabulous!

Hi!  I'm looking for some friends for motivation and support.  I'm 51, female, and working on losing 30 lbs.  My A1c is pre-diabetic so I'm shedding some weight to try and get it under control.

Anyone?

Hi I'm 58 and trying to move from averaging 5,000 steps per day up to 6,000 (end aim is for 10,000 per day) I'm time poor and struggle to fit in anything but work during day then catch up with work admin in evenings, so weekends are an area I will likely manage the 6,000 but need a working day solution.

I make sure to get up every hour at work and do a lap around my school...it really adds up the steps...maybe you can do a quick path around the space where you work.  It really adds up if you do it every hour or two.  I also take about 10 minutes and walk around my house before bedtime.  Good luck..you can do it and will feel great as your body moves more1

hi everyone, I'm Beverly, 56, type 2 diabetic and arthritic hoping to get healthy and lose @50 pounds. I just (re)joined Weight Watchers and a gym. I met with the trainer last night for what I thought would be a short little introductory course and he kicked our butts for an hour and 20 minutes. I was totally drained but feel awesome and proud today (pretty sure the whey protein my son gave me is the reason I can walk). I would love to be a part of this community for encouragement and knowledge and to encourage you. Hope you all have a totally glorious day!

I am 55 years young.   Just got my Fitbit today. Smiley Very Happy I would like to lose weight.  I've set a very small goal of 7 pounds to start.   If I set my goal higher I will get discouraged.  I am recovering from surgery so I have a few weeks to get moving.  Been taking morning walks and now I can track my distance.  It just occured to me how.......stressed  I have been.

Welcome to the newbies!

I just came back from the doctor's for a routine visit. Since September I have lost 35 lbs. and have gone from a tight size 14 to 8/10 pants. I am 58 years old, 5'4" tall and am 8 lbs. from my original goal of 150. I will probably reset my goal to 145 lbs. so I can get to a healthy BMI. I haven't been this size since my early 30's! I am convinced that the combination of sensible eating (I log everything on Myfitnesspal) and the fitbit have contributed to my success. I participate in challenges all the time, I didn't know I could be so competitive!

It isn't easy, and takes dedication and hard work, but the fitbit makes it fun.

My doctor is slowly decreasing my blood pressure meds in hopes of eventually getting off them completely!

Feel free to add me as a friend if you want to do challenges.

Good Luck!

Chris

Congratulations Chris!  What a success story!  You are doing great and I know you are going to make it.

Me too. I'm going more slowly. I started losing in November of 2013 at 231 lbs and I'm down to 205. I'm very tall at 6 foot and I'm 62 yrs. but I'm just going to keep after it and do what I've been doing. I'm hoping to be around 180 next summer. Barb

Way to go.....you'll have days when you look forward to working out and day you dread it on those days tell yourself I'll do 10-15 min's and if I still feel that way I'll call and leave.  Unless your sick or getting sick you'll stay.....good luck
