Hi! I'm looking for some friends for motivation and support. I'm 51, female, and working on losing 30 lbs. My A1c is pre-diabetic so I'm shedding some weight to try and get it under control.
Anyone?

Hello everyone. I'm almost 69 and I'm a walker, not a runner. I had both knees replaced last Fall (2014) and for the first time in many years, I can walk with no pain in my knees. I walk 3-4 miles almost every day. My wife and I are also members of Weight Watchers, and have been attending weekly meetings for the past nearly three years. In that time, I've lost nearly 100 lbs., but have gained back about 30 lbs. I went completely through the prep process for gastric bypass surgery, but because I had lost weight via Weight Watchers during that time, I decided against the surgery. I am so very happy to be able to walk these days, although I am really looking forward to the Fall, and cooler temperatures!

@bbertra1 wrote:Hello, I am a 56 years old and I love my FITBIT. I can't believe how motivated I am since wearing this during my daily walks. I am a type II diabetic and my doctor says I can manage this with exercise and healthy nutrition and portion controlling. Stick with it "frauline_annie". You can do it!!!!! You mentioned that you need to lose 30 pounds. I need to lose 60 lbs based on my doctor's recommendation. We're going to do this! Keep it going!!!!! You're off to a great start.
Trying figure out how to do this! Good luck.

And most of the flovored shakers for popcorn are very low, or zero carbs. there's a chedder cheese flavor, a butter & a cinnamon that I really like. I've heard the cheese is good on Veggies/potatoes

what ever works and is healthy.....WW is great, never tried it however. I am on vacation a long one perhaps 2 months going all over the USA. I brought my Chalene tapes with me and I'm still working out at least 4-5 times a wk because we are in a motor home and I have access to a tv. Don't care much who sees me and my tubby behind. My biggest challenge is this is my sisters treat so I have to eat what ever she buys it's been like 9 days and we have eaten out almost every evening which is usually FRIED or Chinese etc. So I'm glad I brought my protien shakes so I have something to fall back on....I'm just not going to eat like that...........I'll have my shake instead.

Hey Ladies. Had Fitbit since January and unless I'm in water, I have it on. Use it for steps and challenges with friends but only today did I think to get online and monitor calories through my dashboard. WOW....eye opening. Recently cancelled my Weight Watchers and it is a great program but I was not getting what I needed from meetings as I did in the past. Im gonna try this program on Fitbit and see if I move towards my goals. I also have a Auria Scale. Got the equipment and the knowledge..... No excuse but to try. Goal is 29 pounds to lose.

I'm not sure if I've written you Jewels, but I'm an ice cream-a-holic too! What I have done is changed to Blue Bunny sugar free ice cream. It's still 90 cals for 1/2 cup of vanilla but that is a bit of a cal savings. I put 10 frozen cherries in the bottom of the (very small) bowl, and then add the vanilla ice cream and it looks like I have a lot! It's a really good tasting substitute. Just be sure the fruit are not packed with sugar!

Hi,
I'm 56, need to lose 25-30 pounds, have had my FitBit for quite a while and love it but haven't lost any weight (in fact, all I do is gain!!!). I thought if I tried to join an online community I'd feel more likely to report my trials and successes and read about other's ideas. My cholesterol is sky high so I need to get serious about losing. I'd love to join the group.

Hi Frauline Annie,
I am 55 years young, 5ft 3 and trying to get fit. I had a hysterectomy in June. I'm on HT. It has really helped alot with the emotional part and I'm able to sleep again. I have never been sick so this was an eye opener for me to get healthy. I see my older family members having serious health issues. In my heart I know exercise and a balanced diet helps. Just keep stick with it. You will get improve. I need to lose about 50 pounds but I am making some small changes daily. The fitbit definitely helps. I know we CAN DO this.

I'm 52 and received my Fitbit as a birthday gift, too. I've only gotten serious for about the past 6 weeks, but have lost about 5 of the 25-30lbs I would like to. I find the food log really helpful, although I still struggle with nighttime snacking! But I feel this program has been more helpful to me than any other I have tried. It seems like a lifestyle change that is manageable...not just a short term diet. Welcome to the community!

I feel your pain! Eating out is the hardest...and my husband likes to do so a couple of nights a week. Add wine or a cocktail and it's even worse. Good for you for coming prepared with your shakes! We're headed to my parents' place tomorrow and I'm going prepared with fresh fruit and veggies, string cheese, etc to hopefully stay away from the tempting high calorie fare I know will be on hand. 🙂 Good luck with your journey...it sounds like fun!

I know what you mean about that food log! I've started using it, and it really helps to keep myself in check. Now I kind of treat it like a game...I feel like I'm "winning" when I can find food combos with low calories that I like and make it "in my zone" for weight loss. The pounds aren't exactly falling off, but I feel great and think I'm on the right track! Good luck! Friend me if you want to. 🙂 I'm Ronda C. I don't know exactly how that works. 🙂

Hi All - It's so nice to hear all your success stories and similar challenges! I can tell you, since I've had my Fitbit (6 weeks now), I've cut out (almost completely) processed sugar, processed food and gluten and the swelling in my horribly arthitic hands has gone down - I still have to look at them from time to time as it's been a while since I had normal sized hands!! I can use them more with less pain which is very exciting! I didn't even think of doing this until I started logging my food intake and seeing the calories - just made the decision to eat healthier and boy has it made a difference. Only lost 5 lbs but the benefits with my arthritis is amazing!

Too late to join? I'm still in my 50s, pushing 60. Just got my Fitbit last week and getting used to logging food, which takes a lot of getting used to, but loving the STEPS feature! That's what will keep me going. Want to lose about 12lbs. Weight crept up on me during the year and I gained about 1lb a month in the last 14 months!!! Looking for a little motivation and company here. 🙂 Patty
