looking for friends - 50s and female and getting fabulous!

Hi!  I'm looking for some friends for motivation and support.  I'm 51, female, and working on losing 30 lbs.  My A1c is pre-diabetic so I'm shedding some weight to try and get it under control.

Anyone?

Good for you, Alison!  Glad to hear you got a Fitbit; mine really helped my motivation, along with several other tools, like My Fitness Pal (free site, both mobile and on Web) to track food and exercise.  I sync it with my Fitbit and log food and exercise in it.  You can also do this within the Fitbit site, but I find the MFP food database to be better and I like their mobile app more intuitive.  Logging food is really important for me, as it makes me feel more in control and accountable.  Good luck to you on this adventure:  Just don't try to do everything at once.  Embark on each health strategy over time, making them into habits that become part of your daily routine...

Hi, Ladies,

I would like to join you.  I turned 53 last week.  Got my fitbit in October and have lost 16 pounds.  Would like to lose another 20 to be in a healthy BMI.  Working on portion control and getting 10k steps per day.

Good Luck to all!

Helen

Hello everyone. I'm married 32 years and mother of 3 grown children. I'm looking to get fabulously fit after fifty.I recently turn 52 and I really need to lose 50-60 lbs. I was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's (hypothyroidism) and I'm presently working with a nutritionist. I just bought a fitbit charge and I am looking for some friends for some support and challenges. I would like to drop 3 dress sizes for my sons wedding December 31st, 2016. Please feel free to add me as a friend.

Hi Patty - I am 53 and the mother of 3 grown children and just found out I am expecting my 3rd grandchild...so excited!!!  I need to lose about 40 lbs and would love to have someone to share this experience with.  I think it would be terrific to support and motivate each other through this journey.  I am new at this ... only two weeks so have to figure out how to "friend" you.

So I have to begin with 10 and then another 10. That is the way to go for me I hope . It is so hard though.

You are so right my friend.starting with 10 is the way to go. I understand
the "hard" feeling and have found some great ways to work through that. The
most powerful breakthrough for me so far is "visioning". I found an article
on SparkPeople Fitness (which by the way is a terrific resource for all
kinds of free information) about this. I did two exercises and am giving
you the link to them. I hope they help you with your mindset as much as
they helped me. I think this is the part I was missing for so long. I am
still new here so if you want to private message me maybe we can exchange
some contact information and get together sometime for a walk or just
motivation.

I tried to send you a message but it wouldnt let me. I went to your profile page but I didnt see add a friend. It must be something in your settings. Can you add me as a friend from my profile page?? or send me a private message? Of course I wrote a "book" and then found out it wouldnt send. We are both newbies to fitbit I guess!

I found the add a friend button and sent you a request

Hi ladies,
I hope you are getting on well with everything you are trying,
My feel good day was Wednesday even after I had a pt session with my favourite trainer at the gym and she nearly killed me ( as always ) the day after my bum felt as though it had bricks in it but measured myself and over the last 2weeks I had lost 12cms so I know I'm doing the right thing,
So the question......what made you feel good this week?

I'll look at it a bit later today. Thanks for letting me know.

Hi again Patty. I have about 70 - 75 lbs to lose even after the 30 I lost already, I get frustrated along the way

but try to turn it around, sometimes I win sometimes the munchies win...lol Its very icy here right now so I cannot get outside like I would like to, but am going to put my rebounder in the back bedroom and hopefully get that going on a daily basis, and I just bought a second hand bike to hopefully fix up and ride on this summer....Great plans if I would only implement them on a regular basis.........Woman Frustrated
