I think you need to take it to the computer and plug in the little black thingy:) This will set up fitbit to your computer and you can start using your band.
Good luck!

Hello, I am relatively new to Fitbit, but I only started really using all the fitness tools I gathered starting from New Year.
I am Nick. 24 years old and I am dreadfully out of shape! However, as a New Year's resolution I decided to do something about it: lose weight and get in shape. Mmm, that seems like something I do every year and fail.
2014 will be different! I will combine my love for technology and try using gadgets and apps to lessen the burden and increase my fun doing this. So I went online and searched around a bit. Fitbit was my first investment. Bought the a Fitbit Aria and Flex and so far did not regret it.
Next was chosing Endomondo to track my workouts more precisely and once again I did not regret it.
Besides that I also bought a Polar Heart rate monitor that is compatible with Endomondo and my LG Nexus 5 and, yes, I did not regret it.
Now today I'm adding one last thing to it social pressure. How? By throwing it all on the internet. My workouts, my weight even my silly thoughts. I hope by doing all this I will not fail by giving up!
So if you like to slap me to workout once in a while feel free to do so on Fitbit or my blog that will act as its log: http://fitnessnick.wordpress.com/
Thank you!

Hi Rugby Girl:
New here as well. Just got my fitbit as a Christmas gift and is excited to learn every feature about it. I'm the Director of Fitness at our Y and is very curious about how many steps I take on a given day. I'm half afraid the fitbit will catch on fire some days due to my activity level!!!!!LOL I'm having issues setting the unit up as well and hope to find out the same things as you! 🙂

"myfitnesspal" allows you to set up an account containing your age, weight, height, etc and allows you to enter what you ate during the day along with your physical activity. I started using it over a year ago and it is awesome. Oh, and it's FREE!!!! If you're in the market to get motivated, then "myfitnesspal" is it!!! log in and give it a try!! It'll be worth it!!!

I just picked up my fitbit on wednesday using some christmas gift cards... Hoping this helps me get on track to dropping the extra weight that i've been putting on.
So far, browsing the discussions seems to be pretty helpful. i like browsing recipes for new ideas, and hope to get motivated to start the new year right.

I just received my FitBit One for Christmas. I had done a bit of research and decided this was the one for me. My husband did his Santa thing and took care of it getting it for me. I had a heart attack over the summer and needed motivation to be more active. This is WAY better than your average pedometer!

I just got my Fitbit Flex up and going last night. I used my computer to sync it. The piece that looks like a cap to a jump drive goes in the UBS slot in computer, then go to your dashboard and click on sync. Keep your fitbit close to computer. I don't have a smart phone that will sync with it. It needs to be a Iphone 4S or higher so I don't know how to sync with a phone. Good Luck!

I'm new today, too! Just activated my Fit One today and loving it so far. Going to try the sleep mode tonight but my husband is skeptical how it works. We shall see!
