Sorry for the delay in responding wrong way - I will definately be checking oout the monthly challange group. I have been extremely ill - in fact, DD bought me my fitbit the day before my birthday and I ended up in the hospital for my birthday. Yesterday was my first day of being out of the house, let alone the bed - lol. I walked to the market with my upstairs neighbor and was very excited when on the way home my fit bit lit up with flashing lights and started vibrating - got home and checked in - I had reached my step goal for the day and logged over an hour of "very active" minutes - couponing can do that, evidently 😉

I'm going to check out that fitnesspal site too - It's just going to take some time to get used to logging every thing in. I am and have been a dilligent drinker of water for years - it's the simplest thing to ease arthritic pain ever. I just never log it in. I'll get there though 😄

Hi everybody! I'm new to this program and would love to connect with some others to help me with my motiviation. I've actually been wearing the flex for a couple months but I've not been consistent in logging meals and exercise. Looking for others to help me with that!

Hello!
Welcome to FitBit. Sometimes it?s hard to log in all of your foods etc. Even if you just use it to motivate yourself to get in more steps you?re doing good. There are groups to help motivate you & challenge you!
I am presently laid up with a broken kneecap and anxious to get back on my feet.

Oh my! I'm so sorry to hear about your knee. Hope it heals soon! I actually have a gym membership but between the kids being sick and me being sick or my knee hurting, it's been really hard to get there. I plan on trying to start going again this next week. I've gone back to college and I'm taking fitness as one of my electives so I have to log so many hours in at the gym to be able to get a good grade. I figured that would be enough motivation!

First let me say: I think going back to school is wonderful! I took some college classes after I first ?retired". One of my nieces was taking classes at same time. She graduated, I got another job and stopped taking classes.

I know trying to get to the gym when you have a family (especially young children) is hard. My great-niece complains she has no time since she had her daughter almost 18 mo ago. sot I originally joined with a girlfriend, She said we?d motivate each other. Then she stopped going! I?d call and beg her but she wouldn?t go, so I stopped calling her and went alone. I met people of all ages and found I really liked to work out. I love gentle yoga and pilates & Aqua Zumba. My friend had baritic surgery and lost weight, but never met her goal as she wasn?t exercising.recently she started to come back to the gym a little . Last year my sister had a surgical procedure and the dr said she had to WALK WALK WALK. I took her to the gym and she liked it so much I got her a year membership for her birthday. Now she goes while I am sitting at home with my leg up. LOL 🙂

Just hang in there.

Welcome!  You are gonna love using your fitbit!  There are lots of people and groups to keep you motivated.  I'm a 63 yo f & I love it.  I'm laid up for now, but I'm still putting it on every day & can't wait until I can get moving.

Welcome ladyofstyle, There are many great groups out there, you may be interested in the group called "monthly challenge group-08/1/14" (we are working on Sept. right now and will carry on) They are a very motivating and considerate group from people all over the world. If interested go to community groups and type in the name of the group in search. (you may find fitbit friends with similar interests)

Hi Trish,  So hows your month been??  Wearing the fitbit has really made me aware of how sedentary I was before (so onwards and upwards I guess).  Have you started increasing your steps now you are wearing it....whats your goal that you are wanting to acheive??

Hey all.  Have literally just plugged myself in and am figuring it all out.  Seems like a cool concept, so I guess the next few weeks will determine whether I am just full of hot air (or not!).  I could do with a confidence boost and what is better than loosing weight and feeling fitter. Am hoping this will give me the motivation I need.  Pretty cool birthday present me thinks..

Am prone to giving up, and hoping this device will kick my arse into action...
