Auto sensing of activity

Can the "fitbit one" be programmed to auto sense when I start running and record it as an activity. Most times I forget to push "on" /depress the button to record activity, also since the "one" is clipped in my underwear it is not convenient too. Thanks in advance for your answers

Hi, @qualitie, that sounds like a great idea, but that option is not currently available.

Which one of the fitbit models does that?

Hi @qualitie. You Fitbit One does automatically sense when you start and activity. Setting your One in activity mode by pressing the button to start and stop the timer at the beginning and end of your your run only captures that event separately on your Activities log. But if you forget to invoke the timer functionality, all the data for your run is on your tracker and reflected exactly the same way in your total activities, albeit not shown separately. So nothing is lost; furthermore, is you still want to capture your run separately, you can still do it by using add the activity record by clicking on the small clock and + sign icon at the top right of the Activity Log window, just by keying in your start time and duration. Even if you can't remember your start time and duration, you can get pretty accurate data just by looking at your activity graph.

Hope this helps. Have a nice day.

Hi @qualitie -- I assume you are asking which models support "SmartTrack," the ability to automatically detect and log certain activities without pushing any buttons or manually adding the log later.  When it first came out, only wristbased trackers that supported heart rate monitering had SmartTrack, but I see that the new Alta will do it as well.  The One, Flex and Zip will not.

A very good point, TW!  And your observations point out why, even if the autodetection feature of the newer trackers seems kind of cool, it is hardly necessary -- even when you forget to use the start/stop button on the one.
