Fitbit One keeps restarting

I am thoroughly disgusted by the Fitbit One and Customer Service. I have had my fitbit one for about two years and now it is giving the error 6.60. Cusomer Service tried to tell me it is a version of the fitbit. When I did my own investigation, I found that it is an error code that indicates that the fitbit one may need to be restarted.

I did the restart, still having the same issue that the steps are not being tracked.

The product is defective. My advice to EVERYONE, check into another product. Fitbit does NOT stand by their products.

While I feel bad that your Fitbit died, I have to say expecting a company to support and/or replace after the warranty period has expired is not fair to the company.  And no I do not work for them.

If you buy a car with a 5 year warranty, and the tranmission dies 1/2 a month after the warrany expires.  You are just out of luck.

If you buy a $5000 TV, and it dies after the warranty, it's time to buy a new tv.

If you buy a laptop and it dies a month after the warranty expires...  Time for a new laptop.

If you buy a $200 fitbit, and it dies 13 months after you purchase it...  Well sorry, but you have to buy a new fitbit.

They are not designed to last forever.  I do question if they are designed to last more than a year, but that's another discussion altogether.

I own a Surge, two Blazes (both with extended warranties) and two Aria (both with extended warranties).  And when my Surge dies, I'll probably buy another one, this time with a extended warranty.

While I think most extended warranties are not worth it, given the use and abuse that our fitbit's go through each day, a two year warranty is well worth it.  I just purchase a second aria for another location, and I paid the extra $30 at best buy for a 2 year extended warranty.  Given the cost, the extended warranty makes sense.

Sorry that your fitbit died, but when you purchased it, all that was guaranteed was one year of service.  You got two, so you got your money's worth....

I'm sorry to hear that your FitBit has died, but I wouldn't say it was defective if it gave you good service for two years. It had a one year warranty, and you got double that service out of it.  I don't understand what you mean that FitBit does not stand behind their products - you bought a device with a 1-year warranty, got 2 years of service out if it, and now you think they should give you a new one?  That is not how warranties work.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't believe a warranty period and expected service life should be the same. My computer may have had only a one year warranty, but I would not buy a brand that kept breaking after two years.

I'll say something in Fitbit's defense though. Some of the products are leading edge technology, and when a person buys the leading edge, sometimes things don't work out so well.

As for the cost, I recall the first LED watches were about $1,000 and you couldn't see them outside.

I too am surprised that your expectation would be a new tracker after the warranty ran out. I agree that the life of the tracker and the warranty do not have to be equal, but unless you buy an extended warranty, I have never heard of any company replacing an item that is out of warranty. I completely understand your frustration, I would be so upset myself. I hope you decide to replace your tracker with something that will meet your needs. Best, E.
