Fitbit One not counting all steps

I've had my Fitbit One a few years now, but this week it has started miscounting steps. At first I just thought I was an even lazier slug than usual, but I tested it this morning and it registered 27 steps when it should have registered over 50. It's missing 50% or more of my steps. What's going on?

Bummer, I just finished chatting with customer service and all they can do is offer me a 25% discount.  It's out of warranty.

OMG am I irritated!!!  While chatting with customer service, I started looking at new fitbits and checking prices.  I saw that the InspireHr is now $69.99.  Imagine my surprise and disgust when I clicked on the link that Customer service sent me.  The Inspire HR is $74.99 with my discount for being such a good customer!!  Well thanks for nothing.  I will still buy another fitbit, but not from fitbit.com.
