I am having the exact same thing.  Sometimes it shows the fitbit number and that it's fully charged.  Sometimes it shows the empty space as if the battery is empty.  And sometimes it is totally dark black with no lighted data at all. I am more than frustrated!

Yup

I think that a similar same thing is occurring with my Fitbit one Here's the scenario:

It's fully charged

I go for a jog

and I randomly checks steps, miles etc, but the following has happened 3 times this week:

I press the display button and it does not show lights

so I press a few time more and eventually the lights shine again........here's the kicker

the device loses several minutes ( I check against other clocks)

and I have lost steps.

How can this be fixed?

wjmd.....have you tried pushing the button a few times?

I finally spoke with a tech from the company's customer service. After
going through quite an extensive trial and error process, the tech
determined that my device's internal Bluetooth is defective. I am
returning it for a replacement. Good luck.

Can you still see steps on app?  Contact customer service. In a few steps they will help you or replace it if it's still under warranty. I was happy with their customer service on this matter!
