How long should a fitbit one last

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My fitbit one died after only 17 months.  I've never put it in the washer or done anything that could harm it.  I've used fit bits for about five years and had two zips die and now this one is useless.  I need a new one but can't afford to keep buying a new one every year or so.  Which type of fitbit lasts the longest.

@Mammason58,

Mine is still going strong after nearly four years.

You said that it 'died', is it not taking a charge anymore or is it discharging quickly?

It's taking a charge and the charge is lasting a long time it's just not recording steps accurately. Only about one third of my steps are recording.

@Mammason58,

I would try restarting it a few times.  I'd press and hold the button for closer to 20 seconds.  You know you've successfully done it if you see the message 'FITBIT 6.60' when you press the button again.

I hope this helps.

@Mammason58,

That's what I would've tried.  I'd contact support.  They'll probably have you try out a number of things that I may not have thought about.  Some folks have reported getting discounts towards replacement devices.  You never know what they'll say.

I hope this helps.

After several live chats fitbit sent me a new fitbit one! This will be my fourth new fitbit since June of 2013 . So grateful for the opportunity to get a replacement for free. Hopefully this one will last longer.

Planned obsolescence.  Engineered to last just slightly out of warranty.  May last longer, depends on the luck of the draw but most about 15-18 months.  Lucky you got a new device.  Usually only offered a discount.  Plus the One is probably on its way out.  New you can only buy in black.

@Jeff042,

And by "may last longer" you mean 35 months past the warranty, you're absolutely right.  I got mine on July 2013 and it's still going.

My Fitbit One is still going strong after four and a half years and that includes being lost in carpark for 2 days! Slightly chipped but still recording.
