My fitbit can't be seen.

I have two fitbit ones.  Two separate accounts.  One of them has died after quite a few years so I wanted to move the newer one to the old account.  I have deleted it from it's account but it just isn't recognised to add it to the old account.  I've tried on three different machines all with different systems and it still doesn't work.  I'm getting to the point where the whole lot is going in the bin.  My fitbits have been so important to me to make sure I keep healthy not for sports purposes.  I have to make sure I move around enough.  The one that I am trying to add is working and showing the days totals.  It's charged right up too before anyone asks.

Hi, @jengee, have you tried a restart.  That might give it the nudge it needs.  Sometimes you need to repeat the restart two or three times.

Good luck and keep us posted.  I am sure this can be solved.

I'm up to my 18th reboot.  It hasn't helped.  Turned the firewall on and off that many times I've lost count, turned off anything that might stop it.  Tried more than one machine all with different systems and different types of machines and it won't work on them either.   It's still happily recording everything though.  Thank you for trying.  Jennie

That's very strange that it would work on one account but not on the other.  Does it now also fail if you try to re-add it to the original account?

@TandemWalker do you have any thoughts on how to get this One set u properly again?

Haven't tried.  I have a lot of badges in the first account and only a think three in the one it was in.  I didn't want to loose them.  I'll try it anyway.

I've tried it and it can't see the fitbit on there either now.  I've just been watching task manager, processes.  It's hardly doing anything when it's supposed to be trying to find the fitbit.  It could of course be my fitbit has had it.  I'm very tired.  I'll have to look further at what can be blocking it.  I've exited the firewall but a lot of it continues to run.  I changed to chrome a week ago and have been having a constant battle with my firewall ever since.  It always works easier with new stuff being put inside the firewall and it added after does't it.  This is a big change and it's being  bloody minded.  Night night for now.  Jennie

I've just booted up an old machine with xp on it and it and that can't see this nuisance fit bit either.  I've got a new one coming so hopefully that will be ok.  I can't help but think there is something else not right though.  I'm going to keep after it and will post if I find a solution so that if anyone else has the same problem it might help them.  Thank you all.

The fitbit I thought was dead now isn't.  I got a pin and pushed into the hole at the back of the fitbit, it resets it says.  Then put it on charge and it charged up and it's been accepted by the account.  I still haven't sorted the other one out though.  Perhaps I should do the same but it's working so I hope I don' mess it up.  Not a lot to loose I suppose.  Jennie

Hi, @jengee, the little hole at the back of the One is where the altimeter is.  It does not restart the One.  It restarts by plugging it in to charge and pressing and holding the button for 10-12 seconds.  I would recommend restarting the other Fitbit as well.  It may get it so it can be recognized again.  Do be careful if you stick a pin in -- that can help clear anything blocking it, but it could damage things too.

As you know, if you get them both going again, you will have to have them on separate accounts as you can only have one Fitbit of each type on one account.

Anyway, it sounds like you are making progress!  All good!

Hello @jengee,

When you say it isn't recognised, do you mean:

  1. It's not finding it at all.
  2. It's finding it, but you don't see the four digits show up on the Fitbit One.

because there's probably a simple solution to #2.

It's not seeing it at all.  I've added the other fitbit ok it's just this one.  I have a new one coming if that's ok then it's my red fitbit that's got a big problem.  Perhaps if I left the battery go completely flat and reset it, it might work.  That will take days it's topped right up.  It's not the pc, tried three others, different makes and systems.  It's not the firewalls, different ones again and then it wouldn't have uploaded the other one.  I've asked the contact page but it will be another two days before they answer and I have no doubt they won't have a clue.  I hate problems I can't let them go.  Thank you for asking me anyway.  Jennie

I Googled about resetting and that's what it said to do but for a different fitbit.  That was all I did.  It's a finished subject now anyway.  The black one had a big red cross through it on the account, that's the one that started up after.  I had left it a whole day to recharge and it did nothing.  Didn't log in- nothing so perhaps you're wrong.  I just did as it said.  I really don't care about  opinion and I know is it worked.  That's not the one giving the problems anyway.  Don't jump in feet first just ask it's not so offensive.  The one that's playing up isn't going on this account anyway  now, I have to wear two, have done for years two different accounts.  All the instructions you have said about restarting I tried right at the beginning about 20 times until I got sick of it, it doesn't work. Grandmother and sucking eggs comes to mind.  Yes I'm getting annoyed.

Hi, @jengee, I am so sorry if you found my comments "offensive", though I really don't understand why!

The instructions you found to stick a pin in the hole are for the Fitbit Flex.  That is how you restart the Fitbit Flex and in that case the hole is in the charger, not in the Fitbit iteself.  The One restarts in a different way, and I shared the link with you.

I am glad that you got your One working again, and I hope you get the other One working again too.  But you definitely won't restart it by sticking a pin in the hole.  I was just suggesting being careful, because that isn't the restart; it is the outlet for the bit that counts the stairs, the altimeter.

BTW I am a grandmother!  (and I really was just tryng to help)

I'm a great grandmother too 70.   Help comes in all sorts of ways.  I just posted what I did and said it worked.  You were accusing me of lying or being a fool I'm neither but I am very tired and ill.   I've got both accounts up and running now I did it all on my own in the end.  Not everything that is written here is correct.  It says don't put the little dongle in a hub.  I had to and it still worked.  I did three thousand miles on crutches.  Now they are gone, most of time, and I need them to stay gone but I know they won't but I am determined.  I need this horrible little things far too badly.

I did say I got it from instructions about a different fitbit.  You should read what I put again. Another example of trying to be clever, put me in my place so to speak.  No chance.   You weren't helping if it's working what more help did I need?  I said it was finished it is.  Emails no longer come through to my account either.   Perhaps thinking how you would feel if someone spoke to you as you did to me would make you think more deeply before you act.  I did take offence so you said something I didn't like it's that simple.  I should never have asked for help there are always people wanting to help who really just want to show off to others reading.  I'm not sad enough to find out about fitbit until I need to.  I didn't need to be told I worked it all out on my own.

Hi, @jengee, once again, I am very sorry for your issues, and once again I am glad you got your Fitbits going again, but I really can't let it stand that I accused you of lying or being a fool.  I did no such thing at all.

I advised you to be careful with the pin in your One, and mentioned that that was not the restart procedure for the Fitbit you have,  Nothing more.

I am not a Fitbit employee.  I am a grandmother, like you.  You posted on the forum and asked for help.  I did my best to provide it, as a Fitbit user (and a grandmother). I am sorry that I did not help (and in this case sorry that I wasted my time trying to help since you found my attempts offensive).

In any case, as I have said, I am very glad that you have now got it sorted out.  I wish you all the best.
