Syncing Fitbit One

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Check out the transcript pasted below from the chat. Looks like Fitbit is walking away from supporting their original product. Looks like I'll be going to the free Google App.

Clement (8/18/2019, 12:31:46 PM): Since all possible troubleshooting steps are maximized and your tracker is still not working as intended, let me go ahead and review your warranty status.
Clement (8/18/2019, 12:31:56 PM): Upon reviewing our system carefully with the information that you sent, I noticed that you've missed the 1 year limited warranty, if you'd like to know more about our warranty policy, please check: https://www.fitbit.com/legal/returns-and-warranty
Clement (8/18/2019, 12:32:00 PM): Though, I really want you to keep tracking all your fitness goals with us.
Clement (8/18/2019, 12:32:03 PM): With this in mind, I would like to provide you with a 25% discount that you can use towards one of our trackers through our fitbit.com store using the link that I'll be sending right after this conversation.
Me (8/18/2019, 12:34:32 PM): Wow, through no fault of my own., suddenly your product no longer works as intended. I'm not the only one with the issue as you can see from the forum. Would it be better if I did not bother with Fitbit anymore and use the free Google APP?
Clement (8/18/2019, 12:35:24 PM): I understand where you are coming from and I appreciate your honest feedback in line with this matter. I also apologize for the inconvenience this caused you.
Clement (8/18/2019, 12:36:20 PM): Regarding that, I can assure you that we take heed of all the comments that we receive as we're continuously improving our products and service.

That is what the chat room support guy said. It I don't understand how this is a warranted defect. The Fitbit will sync after forcing it to turn off and back on but for only one time. It is not an issue with not recording steps, not turning on or charging, etc. This is only the syncing feature that should be automatic. It suddenly happened and I wonder if they did not cause the issue with a software upgrade? If I accept their solution of 25% off of another product, how long can I expect it to function as I hope? Are the new models better or worse? Seems a software issue, did they develop a new platform?

Originally, the support person said it was that my Fitbit one had old blue tooth format and I had to turn off all other blue tooth devices for it to sync. Although I was born on Monday - it was not 6 days ago.

I guess I have to decide what to do.

  1. Continue to force the fitbit to stop and restart when I want to sync
  2. Stop using a fitbit and start to use the free Google Fit app.
  3. Take advantage of the 25% discount and purchase a new product with the fob accessory.

I will feel like such an idiot when the new fitbit product fails.

Perhaps, I will try Google fit while continuing to force my fitbit one to stop when I want to sync.

I'm having this same problem!  It started earlier this week.  The only way I can sync is if I reset the device and then it works once.  This is quite annoying!

Yep, no help from fitbit. Buy a new one or put up with this. Perhaps go to
Google fit free app?

Just to clarify, if you decide to leave the unresponsive Fitbit company and substandard product. You can download a free app on your smartphone from Google that will track steps like the old Fitbit one did but does not need to sync as it will display the status on your phone. The download is free and it takes roughly 12 to 13 seconds to accomplish. You probably carry your phone when walking or running anyway. Then you will no longer have to call or chat with Fitbit's customer dis-service contacts to find out that they will do nothing but offer you a discount on their overpriced and faulty products. A deal I personally cannot pass up.

Oh, I see what you mean. I actually don't carry my phone during exercise
so this isn't a good option for me.
