Unable to sync Fitbit One

Since yesterday evening, I have been unable to sync my FitBit One with my Android phone. I have tried restarting the phone and reinstalling the app but this hasn't fixed the issue. Is anyone else having problems? =(

I have uninstalled to reinstall and now it's telling me it can't find the Fitbit. This system is a joke. What the hell have they done to these devices, which previously worked without any problems at all?

Have used "Evie's" solution about once per week for months with no success. It just randomly syncs itself about once per week. Completely unacceptable.

Folks,

If any of you who are having problems are synching with a Windows computer, you might try what I did -- rolling back to an older version of the WIndows synch program.  Start here:

https://www.fitbit.com/setup

Under the red "Download for Windows" button, click on the "Windows XP" link, then the red "Download for Windows" button will read "Download for Windows XP."  I think I just installed that, over the top of the existing version, and it worked fine.  The bottom line for me was the "new" version -- presumably the one for Windows 10 -- didn't work worth beans for me.  Once I went back to the old version, I've been working perfectly, ever since.  If you fit into this boat, give it a shot!

Perfect! After unsuccesfully trying all other solutions (restart, reboot, re-install, etc..) this one worked perfect!

Thanks Thoots!

Looks like I am having the same problem I had about this time last month.  No automatic sync with my computer, no hard sync.  I don't use my phone to sync.  This is very frustrating.  I tried reinstalling the software and that didn't work.  When I try to hard sync, I get the "Not working?" menu and try again.  It searches for 30-45 seconds and again comes back with "Not working?"

I am getting ready to forget this whole program and try another device.  I liked the One because I don't have to wear it on my wrist.  Has anyone tried any other devices like a One from another company?

Thanks.

If you're syncing with a Windows computer, by all means try my advice to not just reinstall the software, but install the "Windows XP" version, available here:

https://www.fitbit.com/setup

Again, I just had horrible luck with the newest version of the sync software.

Though, that said, after sending the second Fitbit One I've owned through the washing machine too many times, I decided to get a tracker that would attach to me, instead of my clothes.  So, I bought a Fitbit Charge 2, and I'm pretty happy with it.  I had to update my sync program to work with it, but so far, it has been working fine.  And while I've been skeptical of wrist trackers, it has been really very reliable in tracking my steps and such.

Better yet, I would usually keep my Fitbit One in the little "coin pocket" of my pants, or in the front right pocket of pants that lacked a coin pocket, but it usually wouldn't count the work I would do on any exercise machines I've used.  So, I would usually clip it to my pants around my knee when working out.  Indeed, it was clipped down there the last time I sent it through the washing machine.

Well, the Charge 2 not only counts that activity, but "recognizes" it, and shows all kinds of information about it in the online Dashboard.  In the end, I'm quite happy with the Charge 2 -- I certainly think that it's a very worthwhile improvement over the Fitbit One, and if I get tired of having it on my wrist, or if I'm doing things like washing dishes when I don't want to wear it, I just put the whole thing in my pants pocket -- it'll be pretty difficult to miss that when it comes to washing those pants.

Oh, also, it has done a pretty good job of "automatically" tracking my sleep, which was another thing I was concerned about.  In the end, in regards to all of the reasons why I have avoided a wrist tracker, it has proved to get the job done just fine, and indeed better than the One ever did in a number of areas.  I'm glad I gave it a try!  It appears that the world has gone beyond the Fitbit One concept, and by golly, the newfangled stuff actually works pretty well.  I would certainly recommend the Fitbit Charge 2 to anyone who might be thinking of trying something different than the Fitbit One.

Yes, I did use the link you had previously provided for Windows XP.  It gave me the option to remove and reinstall.  Still came up with same routine.

Thanks for the information on the Charge 2.  I wear my One on my bra and it counts everything.  I have never washed it...LOL.  If I must change, I will look the Charge 2.

Thanks.

To be safe, I treid one more time using the link above to download onto my computer.  I chose Windows XP.  It is still not syncing.  The One is still recording everything, but it has been over a week since it synced and this is driving me crazy!

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks.

The only additional thing I can think of that hasn't already been mentioned here dozens of times would be to remove the Fitbit USB Bluetooth dongle from your computer, then reboot the computer, and then when it's fully back up and running, insert the dongle again.  Then try a "Sync Now" and hope for the best.

Good luck!

Thanks, I have done that a few times with no success.  I am getting ready to give up completely.  So sad.

Yep, sounds like you have tried everything.  If you're serious about getting another tracker, I would recommend the Charge 2 -- I'm happier with it every day I use it.  It doesn't come with a Bluetooth dongle, though, so you would just use your existing one.  The installation routine involves installing a whole new sync program -- and so far, it has worked perfectly for me.

Good luck!

I give up!

When the battery dies, I will quit using this.  I do not want another fitbit device if this is going to be an ongoing problem.

I can understand.  About the only thing I can say at this point is to repeat how I'm so much happier with my Charge 2 than I ever was with the One.  And with all of the "black Friday" sales and such, you can pretty easily find the Charge 2 for only about $30 more than getting another Fitbit One.

Also, I have tried other trackers, and even if the hardware was interesting, their software was VERY disappointing.  For instance, especially, the "sleep tracking" was a complete joke with anything else I've tried, if they even had it.  You might just try a Charge 2 from a place that you could return it easily, and give it a shot.  And by all means, return it if you don't like it.  In the end, I still think the Fitbit software meets my needs just a million times better than anything else I've ever seen.

Good luck!

I also have had a synching problem with my fitbit one for the last few days. I tried all the suggestions posted and I thought I had success when I tried the suggestion of rolling back to an older version of Windows. It worked yesterday and I was thrilled. However, today I can't synch  at all. In fact, a message says the dongle is not connected so I move it to another usb port and still no luck. Any other ideas? Maybe I should just get another fitbit device but I want one that doesn't have any problems.

Good news!  I got my One to sync.  After numerous tries of rebooting, removing the dongle, resetting, etc. over the past week, yesterday I connected the One to the charging cord, next to the connected dongle, and hit "sync now".  For some reason, yesterday, it decided to sync.  So far, so good.  Let's hope this keeps up!  Thanks to all for the suggestions.
