Did you mean:

Add multiple devices

Trying to add another Fitbit to acct but only allows 2 devices which is absurdly archaic app design & also counterproductive to Fitbit sales.

I've read past posts w this concern from yrs ago & still no fix?!

As consumers of more than 2 models, we like "choice" to wear whichever Fitbit for such occasion & by design, the app limits ownership of 2 devices max - unless you constantly disconnect/sync which is absolutely ridiculous.

Is there a Mod here w any logical explanation or fix?

Hi @minc7  the explanation given previously by the Fitbit Moderators and the Fitbit help articles is pretty much: you can't have two devices that use "Gallery" at the same time on a Fitbit account. If you want to change devices you need to go through the process on the app of replacing one device with the other, syncing first before changing so you do not lose data.

Appreciate the quick reply @Odyssey13

As stated in original post - I'm aware of the sync/disconnect/sync "fix".

Unfortunately, this is actually not a fix at all - just a massive user inconvenience & before I continue, know my discontent is not towards you, obviously, but towards Google/Fitbit.

In the past, Fitbit advertised/pushed for multiple devices for different occasions & allowed "actual multiple" devices linked to Fitbit app - one would think, "Hey, we make a product, now let's try to sell as many as possible!", is a normal business approach for success but...

https://9to5google.com/2023/01/02/fitbit-multiple-devices/

Fitbit's CEO James Park welcomed the news, said the Google acquisition would let the company “innovate faster, provide more choices, and make even better products.”

"More choices". Yeah, ok.

It's clear this "multiple devices" problem is not going to be remedied as it has been a problem dating back at least 4 yrs ago & it's ridiculously negligent to say the least - multibillion IT company just doesn't give af to input some basic code into their app.

Each Fitbit has a serial# & the app cannot even save each device to at least make the sync/disconnect/sync bs "fix" easier. Nope. It completely disconnects & forgets it completely - then you have to go through the process all over, again & again & again.

We have multiple Fitbits & just today, trying to correctly sync our devices to our specific accts literally took over 30 mins, w.t.f. It would incorrectly sync the wrong Fitbit, over & over again.

There's a thread here, stating an absurd "fix" would be to go far away out of Bluetooth zone, literally. From our basement to 2 floors up, Bluetooth still reaches - so not only is that "fix" absolutely ridiculous, it's also not possible.

What would make the sync/disconnect/sync bs "fix" a bit easier is if you could turn off these Fitbit devices but nope, they took that away too - for a one to two hundred $ device, one would think you could easily power off the device to save battery power but nope again. This is & has been the state of today's "1-2 yr then throw away" corporate mentality - cut all corners at all costs to afford larger yachts/mansions.

It's typical but doesn't mean we should be ok w it. We'll just wear these Fitbits out & move on to a better product that actually allows "more choices".

@Odyssey13 Thank you for your help.

@minc7 , A warm welcome to the Community! Thank you for your message and feedback.

We appreciate that you mentioned the article. Keep in mind that features and anything about Fitbit and its products will be published on the official Fitbit and Google sites.
We have noticed, when using more devices at once, sometimes the data tracked  ( by let's say device 1) can be overwritten by the data of the 2nd device, that was not in use. This has caused that after a long day of activities tracked with the device 1, when arriving home , device 2 is on, with 0 steps etc, and it syncs.
Then all the activities and data gets back to 0 and cannot be recovered.

That's a coding issue which could simply be resolved (Google IT) by linking each individual Fitbit serial# onto user account.

Another simple way to resolve this issue is allowing Fitbits to be powered off - a basic function that has been negligently discontinued - now made a "feature" in only select high end products.

Simply put, this long overdue "issue" should've never been a problem in the first place & only discourages current/new users. If this was not an "issue", guarantee higher Fitbit sales but obviously Google's too rich to care.
