App Notifications not visible

I have a charge 2 if that matters. I’m trying to set up notifications to my Fitbit from my Ring doorbell. When I go to the notifications area on the Fitbit app, there is no option for “app notifications”. I know this is possible bc my coworker has this function.

I updated the app. No difference.

Please help 🙂

@SunsetRunner   I was so surprised when I saw your screenshot, that I found my old Charge 2 and added it back to my account.  My notifications page is the same as yours.  I re-read Fitbit's Help article on Notifications.  It is very long, but there is a chart in there that lists the types of notifications each device can receive.  The Charge 2 can't receive app notifications.  So, yes it does make a difference that you have a Charge 2.

I apologize that it took me this long to get you the correct answer.

Hello @SunsetRunner and welcome to the Community.  Just to clarify, the path to set up App Notifications is profile picture > Charge 2 image > Notifications:

iOS app viewiOS app view

If you don't see this, can you please post a screenshot?  I don't think it is related to using a Charge 2.  My husband has a Blaze and it was released around the same time as the Charge 2.  He has the App notifications option.

@LZeeW I went ahead a bought myself a (used) charge 3. I am still not having any luck with the app notifications 😞 Here is a screenshot of what I see when I go to the app notification screen. I have found nothing helpful anywhere about why the ring app is not showing up. I have reset and restarted the watch 2x. It's synced and receiving text and call notifications. Any ideas about how to get ring notification?

Hello @SunsetRunner

Assuming the you have Ring send notifications to your phone like I do, l motion detected or actually ringing the bell...go ahead and make one of those occur (either motion detection, or ring the bell), so you get the notification on your phone. Next, go into the Fitbit app...open your account, click Versa, scroll down and click Notifications, click App Notifications, and in there is where you will see any phone apps that Fitbit can send notifications to the Versa. You should see Ring Video Doorbell in there. Simply turn it in, and that should solve your issue. Do make sure you have text notifications enabled on your Fitbit App as well and also ensure your system notifications are on as well. On your phone tap settings, then Bluetooth, tap the information icon next to your Fitbit name then tap Share system notifications.
😃 I hope that provides the answer you are looking for

Hi @SunsetRunner  - a number of people have problems getting the Ring notifications and if it is working you may have found the solution - can you confirm that you see App Notifications and you are now receiving Ring notifications? And which phone you have as there may be a difference. Thanks

@Guy_   The original question asked about the Charge 2.  The Charge 2 cannot receive app notifications.

🤔 Interesting the poster chosen my response originally (14 June) but was “mysteriously” changed yesterday. The question was about getting the ring notification set up with the ring doorbell which I provided instructions on that which successfully connected the Ring Doorbell to the App notifications as well as getting the App notifications to appear so it may enabled.
The current best answer doesn’t provide the full fix in its entirety.

I'm puzzled how the post from @LZeeW, marked as the best answer, is going to help people with the Ring notification issue find the right answer, acknowledged by @SunsetRunner as clearly working.

@SunsetRunner- if you changed your choice of best answer, does it mean that it is not or no longer working?

@Guy_   While the OP mentioned Ring app notifications, she clearly stated that the App Notification option didn’t appear on her app.  The Charge 2 doesn’t provide App Notifications.  This is about the Charge 2, not the Ring doorbell.

@LZeeW  - I disagree, the poster should be able to choose which solution is the best answer for their needs. As @SunsetRunner  got it working for her that clearly is the best answer, and will help more users.
