Biking miles

I don't understand why Fitbit doesn't allow biking miles to be added to your day count. It gives you total miles biked on your watch  but  All you get are a few activity points and calories burned for all your effort.  I want my miles to count. Are there other trackers out there that add your miles biked on your day count?

That is the same for all Fitbit models.  It is built into the app, not the tracker hardware.  Some people would say that riding a bike 26.2 miles is not equivalent to running a marathon.  I'm not here to debate the issue.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

I know,  I get it. So then why add biking as an activity when it doesn't really count towards anything?Sent via the Samsung Galaxy Note8, an AT&T 5G Evolution capable smartphone

@SunsetRunner as you already know there is no way to mix distance from step based activities and from non-step based activities. You need to play your own "game" here and use thirdparty apps to track distance (like Strava). Treat both things separately For example, this is what Garmin does. You have distance stats for walking as well as for cycling, swimming etc. but numbers are never added together because they come from different sources. In Strava you can set up weekly distance and elevation goals and participate in cycling challenges so it is still more than Fitbit offers. Sports tracking isn't main focus of Fitbit platform (notice that there are no badges for most common running distances, no personal bests, no sport-based challenges and no training features but everything is about steps and calories). Using thirdparty app synced with your Fitbit accoubt is probably your best option to collect relevant stats.

This sounds like a feature that should be added. You can suggest you at the feature section of the community suggestion page. Members would then get a chance to vote as to whether or not they feel this is something that Fitbit should offer. I don’t know if this is something that could be easily added to the Fitbit application but I would think it would be relatively simple to add to the Fitbit dashboard. I would think that swimmers along with cyclist and people doing other exercises would appreciate to be able to see all of the information collected in a format that would help them set goals and achieve personal best.

I would thing along with cyclist swimmers and people playing sports would love to be able to see all of their activities including walking on one page so that they can monitor their activity and the progress they are making towards goals.

I requested that feature and was told not at this time. It's been requested for years but obviously they don't care. I don't see how an update to the dashboard bothers them. It's our fitness, our milies and goals. Our miles are our miles and should be counted as we want them counted. They don't care what we want or request.  As soon as another maker comes out with that feature on their watch or tracker I'm done with Fitbit.

@SunsetRunner good news for you. You can get totals per sport on pretty much any sports watch (Garmin, Polar, Suunto, Coros). Other companies support that as basic feature. For me, Fitbit also misses elevation gain as a metric. I run with weekly and monthly elevation goals (hilly trails) and there is no way to track it with Fitbit (and I can't see elevation gain on the watch during my runs either).
