I used to have a Charge HR. It served me well, but died. I was about to purchase a Charge 3 to replace it, but I see from discussions here that the Charge 3 requires a smart phone for software setup. I do not own a smart phone and have no plans to buy one. My Charge HR synced perfectly well with my MacBook. Can the Charge 3 be used by someone who does not own a smart phone? If not, does Fitbit sell any device that can be used by someone without a smart phone?
I see that this was discussed in 2018, but it's over a year later. I'm hoping to hear that Fitbit has fixed this problem in the interim.

Hello there @CentipedeGrass, welcome to the Community Forums.
The Fitbit app is compatible with over 200 phones and tablets, as well as Windows 10 computers. It's also possible to set up your Fitbit device on a Mac or Windows 8.1 computer with a program called Fitbit Connect. For steps to set up the device, please see this help article: How do I set up my Fitbit device?
Note that if your MacBook has the Bluetooth option, you should be able to pair your tracker with it without a problem. If you are having issues, follow the instructions provide in the help article Why can't I set up my Fitbit device?
Let me know if you have any questions present.

I took a chance, and went ahead and bought a Charge 3, which I am now trying to set up. Fitbit Connect was still installed on my computer, so that's fine. When I get to the screen that says "Which Fitbit tracker are you setting up?", the Charge 3 isn't listed. (11 other devices are listed, but not the Charge 3.)
Are you sure I can set up a Charge 3 without using a phone or tablet? Where do I find a setup menu in Fitbit Connect that includes Charge 3 as an option?

I have now returned my Charge 3 to Fitbit and have received a refund. MarreFitbit was mistaken; the Charge 3 cannot be set up with Fitbit Connect on a MacBook. Some other Fitbit devices can be set up with Fitbit Connect, but not the Charge 3.
