Can't automatically detect elliptical

I added elliptical to the list of exercises. Even though this is probably one of the most obvious movements because of the way your arms move, the charge 4 will not automatically detect the exercise

I have the opposite problem - it detects my walks (and weight training) as 'elliptical'. Would be good to see if there are any explanations for these

Maybe I am lucky but my Charge 4 has no issues with the elliptical.

You are indeed lucky, if your fitbit is not riddled with issues @NewSuttonGirl

For cycling and the elliptical, I end up putting the trainer around my ankle with and extra large band or in my sock.  It does a better job counting steps, but does not detect the elliptical machine specifically unless it is on my wrist and then only sometimes.  Sometimes cycling is detected as elliptical, so overall I guess I find it just not very accurate at most automatic detections.
