Hi,
I bought a Charge 3 a couple of days back and it is having this same problem. 8 seconds hold, 15 second hold or nothing works. The screen briefly shows a smiley face icon and then returns to the www.fitbit.com/setup message. Reconnecting to the charger cradle sometimes shows the battery is 94% charged.
The link you provide above is of no use too. What else should I do?

That screen issue is a simple fix. Download the app on your phone and turn the Bluetooth ON. You've already set up your profile so we can skip that. Use the same credentials you created for this site to log in on the app. In the upper left corner, you'll find your profile picture. Tap it, and then select "Set Up New Device". You'll be asked to identify your device, select "Charge 3" (or whichever Charge model you have). You'll then be given a series of prompts, follow them all and the screen will disappear.

To set up using the phone app the tracker must start. The issue here is that it never boots up. This is a brand new device, just out the box.

Turn off Bluetooth on your phone; wait 10 seconds, and then turn it back on.
