I can’t receive notifications for messages because the Do Not Disturb setting won’t allow me to turn it off. Tried it from both the quick set and through settings. Rebooted many times, no updates needed. I’m deaf, and this was the feature that attracted me most. So frustrating!

That probably means you are in Sleep Mode which keeps DND on.  Check Quick Settings for Sleep Mode; also in full Settings.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
