Charge 2 Clock Timezone Change

I recently got a Fitbit Charge 2 about a week ago. This past weekend I traveled 1 timezone away. When I got there my steps did not reset overnight. So the 2nd 24 hours I had about twice as many steps as I should have. I opened my app on my phone a number of times to sync it but that didn't help. How do you automatically reset the steps to 0 for the day?

Also, now that I have traveled back to my home timezone the time on my tracker has still not switched back to my home timezone. Again, I have opened the app and tried to get the tracker to sync but to no avail. If anyone knows how to fix these issues I would greatly appreciate.

Well, it seems that your tracker forgot to reset the information by itself. When this happens, even if you try to restart your tracker, delete the app, negate the steps, this won't work. Everything will be back to normal the next midnight when your tracker resets the information as it should.

To correct the time on your tracker and Fitbit app, do the following:

  • Find an option to modify your time zone.
  • Under Settings, tap Advanced Settings.
  • From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account tab.
  • Sync your tracker:
    1. Go back to the Account tab and tap your tracker name.
    2. Tap Sync Now.

If this doesn't work, try doing these steps:

  • Log out of your Fitbit App
  • Force quit the App
  • Restart your Charge 2
  • Turn off the Bluetooth
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes
  • Turn on the Bluetooth
  • Log back into your Fitbit App

If you're using the Fitbit app for iOS and traveling between time zones with your tracker, note the following information:

  • To avoid data loss, in the Fitbit app, tap Account and then tap Advanced Settings. Find an option to automatically set your time zone and turn it off. Note that the time on your tracker may not update to reflect the time in your new time zone.
  • To make sure the language in your app does not change, tap Account and then tap Advanced Settings. Tap Country, turn the setting to automatically set your country, and then select the country of your choice.

Let me know how it goes!

I've noted numerous bugs in FitBit's software (desktop browser, mobile app, and tracker formware), and this is exactly the kind of thing I've come to expect from Fitbit. The only solution seems to be "Welp, just re-do everything every time! You're happy with that, right?" I travel a lot and this happens to my Charge 2 (and formerly my Charge HR) about half the time. Am I to completely reset my account every single time? If so, I find this unacceptable, and I blame whomever is designing this software for not adding a feature to manually correct it. Seriously, it could be set up so the user can correct it with a single tap.

Fitbit: this issue has been around over a year. Many people experience it .This should be a quick fix. Please get on this.

Thank you-this solution worked.

This worked for me: Don't use the phone app to change the timezone. Go to fitbit.com, login and change the timezone from the web page. Then sync with the phone app.

Indeed. So much hassle to change the goddamn time on a WATCH! I've traveled to a different time zone and back and it took me about 1,5 hours total to just figure out how to do this.

Changing the timezone on the website instead of via the app is the only thing that actually works. Fix this kind of thing Fitbit, or theres another customer gone...

Thanks for stopping by my friend @wxing! In order to go to your "Advanced Settings", do the following:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon
  2. Tap or click Advanced Settings.
  3. Time Zone section

Hope this helps my friend!

Thank you for posting this. I've tried the full reset, (fitbit, android device, power off and on) as described above, to no avail. Using fitbit.com, which lacks automatic timezone integration with the locally running sync device, I can finally force to update my time change, just before I leave to return to my home timezone.

It's 2017. Automatic time zone updates that work for Charge 2 will be most helpful.

Hey there, thanks for stopping by @Screenack! I'm a bit confused with your post as you can set the time zone to "Automatic" on the app so that whenever you change time zones, and sync your tracker, it automatically reflects on your tracker.

Now, what do you mean by "You can set the time zone to "Automatic" on the app so that whenever you change time zones, and sync your tracker, it automatically reflects on your tracker."?

However, if you're a traveler, to avoid data loss the option "Set Automatically" is better for it to be off. And here are the steps:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon.
  2. Tap Advanced Settings.
  3. Turn off the Automatic time zone option.
  4. Tap Select time zone and select the correct time zone.

If I'm mistaken in the information I'm providing you, please give me more details about what you would like us to implement on your tracker or the issues you may be having with your time zone settings.

Thanks a million!

I don't know. You typed that. Did you mean to insert my confusing text? Nevertheless, I am confused by what you've typed

For example,

…you can set the time zone to "Automatic" on the app so that whenever you change time zones, and sync your tracker, it automatically reflects on your tracker …

[snipped]

However, if you're a traveler, to avoid data loss the option "Set Automatically" is better for it to be off. And here are the steps:

So… Automatic time zone adjustment is a feature that doesn't work if you're traveling.

I don't intend to sound sarcastic, but, what's the point of automatic adjustment, then?

Can I thank you for this.  It's seems strange that you have to do so much to simply get it to read the correct times from your phone.   It worked for me but it should be much more easier.  Fitbit take note!

Thanks again.

Thanks for the ideas. I couldn’t get either of the two ideas to work. But I also can’t get it to sync at all so I think I should start there.

I agree.  FitBit really needs to get their act together @ switching time zones.  I'm about ready to jump ship, after using one for years. I just spent 30 mins. changing time zone on my computer and finally figured out that I had to download the app onto my phone.  It changed time zone automatically when it synced up.  Oy.

Can't believe it!   My Charge II has been 2 hours behind for weeks.  I tried everything suggested online.  NOFX.  I finally un-installed the Fitbit app on my iphone 5, and reinstalled it from the app store, started the app, selected the most logical options (bluetooth, wireless, location on), and the time was immediately corrected....DaveS, Winnipeg

Also, if you have the fitbit app installed on more than one device, ie a tablet and a phone, try both of them.   Nothing would work on my phone although it synced enough to get the right number of steps.  Turns out that the app on my tablet as boss.   As soon  as I did the time zone thing on my tablet and synced there, bingo.
