Charge 2 GPS issues

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Charge 2 has had issues recently with maintaining a GPS connection to a phone for outdoors exercise.

Samsung Galaxy 10, Android system v12, Fitbit software v 3.69. There are no pending updates for the phone firmware, Android OS, or Fitbit software.

This is not an overall sync issue - the fitbit syncs with the phone fine. The issue is that the GPS connection is lost unless the phone is actively on - i.e. unless the phone is unlocked with an active screen, the GPS connection is not maintained.

I have trawled through phone settings and note the following:

* Bluetooth is on, and fitbit is paired and can sync

* Fitbit app has location and nearby device permissions

* Fitbit app has unrestricted battery access

* Fitbit app has allowed background data usage, including when data saver is on

I have tried deleting and reinstalling fitbit app, unpairing and repairing fitbit device, turning bluetooth on and off, hard rebooting the phone (turned completely off, then on again). None of these steps made a difference - the GPS issue persists, and the fitbit can still connect to the phone.

I've searched the forums and note that this similar question has been asked a few times, but I could not locate a forum post with a relevant answer given I've followed every step I can find to resolve this issue from other posts, FAQs, etc.

I'm at a loss to actually resolve this issue. Can anyone help with this?

Step 1: check if your Fitbit has GPS
Step 2: check if the workout you want to do uses GPS
Step 3: make sure you exercise in the open air
step 4: check if the GPS is turned on for your workout
Step 5: charge your Fitbit
Step 6: check if your Fitbit synchronizes with the Fitbit app
Step 7: don't start a workout with GPS multiple of times in a row

Will
