I recieved my new charge 2 yesterday and i have to say i am disapointed in it to the point of considering returning.
This morning i have clocked up 1200 steps when i probably havent even done 200. How can this be sorted? I have changed to my dominant hand, restarted and im unsure how to solve this issue.
@jodessamantha I'm happy to see you join our Forums!
Regarding your steps on top of restarting the device and setting the dominant hand have you also indicated which wrist you placed the device?
To reduce the sensitivity of the device you can indicate that you have it placed on your dominant hand as bellow (I'm right handed):
Another thing that could give you those extra steps is if you have moved your hand if you traveled by car or other vehicle, if the tracker had movement detected on top of the forward movement of the car it can count this as steps.
If that was the case I recommend logging a driving activity to remove those extras.
Let me know if you continue seeing these extra steps.
See you around!
Best Answer@jodessamantha I have exactly the same problem and reported this to Customer Support. I've reset it and changed stride length and other settings, but it clearly keeps adding steps that I simply am not taking and I cannot consider wearing a $150 wrist-based tracker that mistakes typing for walking. 😞
So I'm returning both Charge 2s that I purchased just 3 days ago...very disappointed not to have heard anything back from Fitbit.
Hi i am having this issue i bought mine 2 days ago. I just noticed today ive been walking around the house, checked the steps and personally counted my steps then checked and it did not count them. For 5 minutes it still did not count them. I took it off and wiped it. I dont understand. Did you take yours back? Did you get a different one? I'm so dissapointed- especially concidering the app itself is so delayed and not that great to be honest!
I also Charged it at 1pm for the first time then next day by midday its half flat already! Within 24 hours ive lost half the battery life!
Best AnswerI'm having the exact same problem with my Charge 2 ..Ive tried changing the dominant hand and what wrist i have it on ..Hell just yesterday i came down with the flu which has kept me inside sitting on the lounge watching TV and In 8 hours racked up 6890 steps ..lol
It claims i covered 6000 steps in 10 minutes. .
Now 6000 steps is aprox 4 kms. .Maybe I'm superman lol
Im very dissapionted in the thing .Sure i got it for fathers day but its useless if its not doing what its supposed to do ..Maybe my daughter waisted $130.00 ..
Best AnswerMy Fitbit has been accurate for a year then last week it ran out of charge completely and when recharged it has been recording too many steps. I've reset and deleted app and reloaded but still not working. So bad it's pointless wearing it

Hey @Stu2963, I hope you are doin' fine!
Wow, sounds pretty weird that your Charge 2 is tracking so many steps while you were not even walking. Let me suggest you something, perform a restart by following the instructions in this post, use it for a few days and let me know if the accuracy gets better.
@CRG2000, it is great to see new members around! Beside of what you already tried, I suggest you to try to set up your Charge 2 as a new device. This might rearrange the settings on the software of your tracker and might improve the accuracy of it.
Let me know how it goes!
So let me get this straight... you have ABSOLUTELY nothing helpful to say besides "HERPDERP RESTART YER DEVICE AND TELL IT TO RECORD INACCURATE INFO (dominant hand suggestion)" because your algorithms are **ahem**? Is that right? Jesuschrist that is pathetic. I will be returning.
Best AnswerMaybe I am the stupid one. That must be it. I must be so **ahem**ing stupid that I cannot even imagine a situation where your **ahem** tech support level 1 "RESTART YER DEVICE" is any kind of solution to this problem. Recent research shows that ON AVERAGE your products err by 20% compared to actual footsteps. Un**ahem** this, somehow, godhelpyou if you want to stay in business.
My daughter bought one yesterday. Had it in sleep mode last night and it flagged her doing 8000 steps... now its up to 47000 steps. She's shot a video of her holding the fitbit and the steps just keep climbing.
She's very disappointed and we'll be taking it back for a refund.
