My Fitbit Charge 2 was not connecting or even syncing with my Pixel3a. Previously worked with no issues. Then I performed a factory reset on my phone.
Syncing totally froze.
All permissions are on. Bluetooth is on. I turned Bluetooth off and on again, unpaired my Charge 2 from my Fitbit account and attempted to repair. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Fitbit app. I did a soft reset of my Fitbit device. I tried (unsuccessfully) to do a factory reset.
THEN I downloaded the Fitbit app on a secondary device (old iPad) and managed to successfully pair and sync my Fitbit device with the iPad. I unpaired my Fitbit device from the iPad and then repaired it with my android. At last! Syncing issue resolved! My best guess: FItbit, whatever your last update/security patch did sucks.
Hopefully this information will be helpful to anyone else with similar issues.

I have a pixel 3a and having the exact same issues with syncing. It hasn't synced since Thursday / Friday. I will try your method and see what happens.

I've tried multiple trackers and they won't sync to my Pixel3a or ipad mini2. My Charge 2, an old flex and a flex 2. Each would be "found" by the apps but then wouldn't connect.
I'm going to try a reinstall of the fitbit app on my ipad and see what happens....

I had the same issue, Charge 2 had not synced to my Pixel 2 since Nov 9. I had tried all of Fitbit's recommendations: restarting it, reinstalling the app, turning Bluetooth off and on, etc. But what finally fixed it was syncing to my husband's phone. My phone's app then immediately started syncing.
