Im a custodian and unfortunately alot of the times my wrist is immobile while im pushing trash out in the containers sweeping mopping but im getting steps and my charge 2 doesnt seem to calculate so i put it in my shoe strings on my foot today and it calculated more but says i went 2 floors the school i work at is 1 floor and it also says it was calculating my hr while it was on my shoe strings. I need a better way to calculate steps on my wrist doesnt work because it takes two hands to push trash in the container way out to trash can takes two hands to use a dust mop and regular mop a boost machine etc. 😞 and seems putting it in my shoe strings isnt working as well. Any help would be appreciated.

Having this problem too Larry! "Most" may have no comparison or not bothered to comment. See my other posts. I have had fitbit One for 4 years & regularly check the Health app on my iphone, and while they both agree (closely) on step count, they always differ by 20-30% from Charge 2. I replaced my Charge 2 believing it faulty but new one is the same.

I have had mine about a 1 1/2 weeks now and it is not accurate all.  I have done the resart 3 times.  It seemed to make a difference for an hour.  This morning it counted steps when I was just putting socks on but yet no steps when I got up and walked into the next room.  Really.....this is a problem.  Also the fact that no one form fitbit has addressed this problem when so many of us have this problem...., says a lot.  I have read other feeds and one of them have responed in them, so to me that means they don't want to address the issue.  I will be returning it next week, I'll either order another One or just find something with another company.

This is at least the 3rd time I have posted this, to no avail.  Two days ago it tracked my 20 minute walk at 1.17 miles, 172 calories.  The next day I walked the same route, the same time of day exactly (because I have to go clock in) and it tracked 10 minutes 56 calories, no distance. There was no difference at all except same walk, different day.  That same day, it tracked two more short walks (10 each) at 56 calories and the exact same number of steps.  I find it difficult to believe, as I know these walks were different.  Also, the same calorie count three times in a day?  I have restarted it 3 times.  I don't wear it to bed as the light wakes me when I turn over.  At this point I'm ready to chunk it and go back to my HR.

I have had my Charge 2 for almost a week and am also getting inaccuracies. On the 3rd day it recorded me doing 43 floors - now I know I go up and down stairs quite a bit but that was excessive. I altered by stride length manually, although possibly not that accurately, but it seemed to help. However number of steps seems particularly inaccurate at times. Yesterday it had registered about 4375 steps, I mopped the floor and it congratulated me on reaching 8000 steps - it's not that big a floor!!! I've just tried restarted it and we'll see what happens... watch this space!

I've tried all sorts of settings with this tracker but it's just too unpredictable. I can't keep thinking to take it off whenever I'm doing activities using my arms that might add extra unwanted steps. It's going back!

I am having a serious under counting issue with my Charge 2 too. I bought it a week ago. I teach line dancing, and zumba classes, and have worn a jawbone UP2 for the past 2 years. I decided to upgrade to Fitbit as my strap had broken on UP2 and can't be replaced.

durung my dance class days  I regularly logged on average 18-20000 steps on jawbone, yesterday I danced for 3 hours and only 4000 steps. A lady in my class has a Fitbit flex2 and another has an HR and both registered 10000 steps!

i had an inline chat with customer service about this issue last week, and was advised to replace my Charge2, I returned it to the store and got another and same thing happened. I went through chat again and did a text walking 100 steps to see how many it registered, and it picked up on 81 of my 100 steps.

i set my stride length by using GPS while counting 50 steps and dividing distance by steps. So my strudeclength measured 21 inches, not the 26.9 pre set. This seemed to make my test walk of 100 steps more accurate.

BUT it's rubbish at registering my dance steps, and makes me question its accuracy in other things. I had another online chat and was suggested to get another replacement! Can't see the point, two have been exactly the same, why should a third be any different?

its definitely an issue with Charge 2 as I know lots of ladies at my classes with cheaper Fitbit bands, Alta, flex, flex2 and Charge HR and all are getting betting readings than me, it's bisappointing, infuriating and demotivating, a tracker should at least be able to work as a basic pedometer if nothing else!

i am now in a situation as to what to do? I want to return it for a refund, but I have also bought a watch strap style band, and a pack of different coloured bands as accessories, costing another £33 and these I won't be able to return for refund… after two years of knowing my average step count with jawbone UP, I have had a nightmare 10 days with what I thought would be a far superior tracker, in my opinion it's rubbish, and support aren't able to help other than buy our time with send replacements, that are just as bad!

Why, if their cheaper trackers are accurate, are Charge 2 so inaccurate?

There must be be people who have never had a tracker, who now have a charge 2, maybe know no one to compare with, and are oblivious to the inaccuracy.

things like this make me so cross! What to do?

I just purchased the charge 2 and the mileage is completely  off. I just walked to my local farmers market and back which I know to be 1.2 miles round trip. It registered 2.85 RT. That is off by a mike and a half!! Not sure what is going on. But that is disappointing

@Bessie59, did you use the multi-sport exercise mode for Walk with Connected GPS to track this walk, or did you use the Automatic SmartTrack to record the walk?  If the latter, the distance recorded was based on your number of steps multiplied by you stride length.   If you used your arms a lot while at the farmers market, that was counted as steps and was part of the calculated miles.

Thank you for your quick response. I am not sure. I cannot find these two modes you speak of. I did manage to find my stride length and changed the automatic setting of 28.5 inches to 33 inches. Not sure if that would make that much of a difference but perhaps it might. Not sure where to find the multi sport exercise mode or automatic smart track mode on my device. I have the charge 2 Fitbit.

Thanks again

The automatic detect is exactly that, you put the tracker on and let it decide if tipi have gone for a run, walk, bike, elliptical, etc. It wifi them show up in your events list.

Multisport is in one if the menus. Http://help.fitbit.com/?q=multisport

I'm new to the charge 2, but this morning at work I started with 570 steps, turned 56 pages on a report and the Charge 2 registered 667 steps when I finished - that must include the times i wet my finger to grip the pages.

I have been facing the same issue. Got my Charge 2 couple of days back, I usually run for 3 miles according to my treadmill, but fitbit shows I ran 4.8 miles and took 9677 steps which I believe is wayyyyyyyyyyyy off. I don't think this data is accurate and I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone.

I just bought my charge a couple of days ago and it didn't work at all. Not counting steps correctly or calories, and the hr didn't work very well

I went back to the store and returned it and luckily it seems like it's working perfect.

Did a test run this morning with my Garmin forerunner 630 and chest strap.

Garmin: 10 K - 8970 steps - 172 average bpm

Fitbit: 9,27 K - 8874 steps - 170 average pbm

After my run I changed my stride length on the fitbit to match my Garmin, the fitbit km was then 9,97 km

Tomorrow I'll wear both my fitbit and my garmin all day and compare the steps in the end of the day.
