Charge 2 band popping off

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

In the past couple of weeks, one side of my charge 2 band keeps popping off with minimal resistance.  For example if  pull of a shirt or remove my coat. It appears properly latched, but will not stay attached on one side. I have removed the band on that side and attempted to check for anything broken and found nothing.  From the underside when latched, the two latches appear identical. I am afraid this will pop and I will lose it.

There are many posts regarding the same situation & honestly I haven’t had a solution yet. The same thing was happening to me a few months ago when my Fitbit was still under warranty. They sent me a replacement band and now the same thing is happening again with the newer band. Yesterday I was just standing still when it popped off.

How did you request a new band? I have no idea if mine is still under warranty. I think I have had it just over a year...but would think as expensive as it was it would not just pop off. I have an office job and have treated it with care.

I have this exact problem.  This is my 4th strap.  I only bought this in December.  It’s a design fault.  I sit at a desk most of the time so why does the strap snap off all the time.  Thinking of going back to the older Fitbit model with fixed straps.

I am wondering if it may be due to the fact that I have small wrists--the buckle is on the next to last hole on the strap--I wonder if that puts more pressure on the connector?

My Charge 2 did the same thing. I KRAZY Glued the bracelet on. You won’t be able to change the bracelet but at least it will stay on. Mine would just fall off and it was just luck that I would even noticed that it fell off!

Just make sure if you try this to only put an extremely small amount of the glue or the glue might leak on to the front of it (live and learn, that happened to me when I had to glue one of my previous Charge HR).

It definitely is a design flaw. There are too many posts here with the same issue.

so I changed the band and it seems fine...but why would a band not last more than a year?

Culprit is the little plastic piece that sits in between the metal part of the band (that you bend back to remove the band) and the Fitbit unit.  Tiny hairline crack can be observed on the side that falls off.  That allows it to connect (snap in) but any leverage will cause it to pop off.  Probably a part that costs less than a nickel to produce and they likely have buckets of them laying around the factory.  Its a weak point in the overall design (replace it with a slightly more expensive aluminum part would solve the problem).  And hopefully the engineers got it rectified in future models.  Surprised it didn't come out in testing or maybe they didn't do a proper longevity test as these things tend to wear out with exposure to the sun, moisture from sweat etc.  I suspect that after running 1000+ miles with the unit over time the build up of fine particles got to a point and it lost tolerance.

Then i realized it was $7 to replace the band on Amazon so I guess I got good mileage.  🙂  New band ordered
