battery seems to die after 2-yrs. can battery be replaced ? or just through watch away?

No, the batteries cannot be replaced. If the battery dies and you are still within warranty then fitbit will usually replace the entire tracker. The warranty is usually 12 months from purchase but is 24 months in Europe so, depending on where you are, you may still just be covered.
