Charge 2 - screen gone dark! It won't display anything, yet it's still collecting data and syncing it with my phone.
How can I revive the display on my Fitbit Charge 2? Please advice...
Thank you,
Jo

This just happened to me last week as well! Odd. When did you purchase yours? Mine is from Fall 2018

The same thing happened with my Charge 2 this morning when I picked it up there was nothing on the screen. I figured I would try charging it and when I plugged it in I saw the Fitbit diamond and I believe the last digits of the firmware number, The device recharged in a couple of hours and I have a functioning screen, for now. I came to the site today because of this but also because in the last 2 weeks I've had to recharge my Charge 2 every two days instead of the normal 5 days or so. I've had it since December 2017, I hope the battery isn't dying already. I would recommend that you try to recharge it.

I did try to charge mine and no luck. Spoke to customer service and they’re giving me a discount to buy a new watch.

I think I've purchased my Charge 2 in Spring of 2018.
Sadly, I can't get through to the customer service... 😔
I'm glad however that you did and got a discount... yay! 🙂👍
Happy weekend!

Thank you for your feedback.
Took your advice.
Sadly, recharging the device is not bringing the display back. It is still synchronised with my phone and collects data, but not showing time nor other notifications... 🤷:female_sign:
I miss my Fitbit! 🥺
Happy weekend, Daniel! Stay fit and stay safe!

Thank you! I would keep trying customer service. I was on hold for under a minute, perhaps you called during high volume time. The “advocate”, as they call them, will ask for the email linked to your account and will be able to see the device is still syncing and troubleshoot with you. If it’s not covered under the warranty, they’d probably offer you a discount code as well. The advocate had this in my inbox before the call ended!

After starting with the lines thru the display then a white ghosting strip, my display is totally dark. But like urs it still sinks with app and track . Weird. Any ideas on a fix?

This concerns me because the discount only applied to Fibit Charge 3 not Charge 4. I read Fitbit Charge 3 was having the same issues, and I am not satisfied with receiving a discount I am unable to use. Basically, FITBIT does not have a solution to this problem other than BUY A NEW one, especially if your warranty has a problem. They provide no explanations to why this keeps happening. I want a fitness watch I can use without having to replace it every 2 years or less. I am taking absolutely good care of my Fitbit, and I am furious at the thought of buying a new one!!! I bought new bands for my Fitbit Charge 2, and the thought of them not working on other Fitbit Charge irritates me.

Same here. Fit tech and another website have better and cheaper alternatives plus they do blood pressure and eck/ekg. just wish someone sold them other than o line. Like to look at them before I buy.

I was able to communicate with someone via Chat. He agreed that my Charge 2 is having battery issues but since it is out of warranty all he could do is offer me the same discount offered to you. My Charge 2 is less than 3 years old so it is disappointing and I will consider other options when purchasing a replacement. In the meantime I will be recharging my Charge 2 frequently until it stops working.

My Charge 2 is completely dead. They offered me the same 35% discount for the Charge 3 and watches (don't want either) as they have done with others. i have emailed 3 times requesting that they make the Charge 4 available with same discount over last 2 days without a response. i have the same concerns inre to the Charge 3. Plus, it appears that its reached the end of its product life. No longer on their corp website.
I have been with them since 2016 and had been pleased with their customer service and how they had handled all of the issues i had with previous problems (like this one). At least, up till now. at this point, I'm disappointed with their lack of response.
I have already started searching for alternatives such as Fit Tech and others. The only thing holding me back is that the ones i like are only sold online and i am a touch and feel shopper. Might have to change my ways.
Should anyone else out there looking i would be grateful if you would share what you have found.

From 9 to 5 Google article https://9to5google.com/2020/05/26/fitbit-ionic-update-breaking-some-units/ "The Fitbit Ionic was the company’s first attempt at a smartwatch and many users are still wearing and buying the device in 2020. However, the latest updates to the Fitbit Ionic seem to be breaking many smartwatches, and users aren’t getting much help since they’re out of warranty.
In a thread on Fitbit’s community forums (via Android Authority), there are many users complaining about bricked or broken Ionic devices following the latest updates.
Apparently, something wrong with the 70.7.27 update and some other recent software versions have been breaking portions of the experience, including the ability to sync with a smartphone. Others are stuck on a black screen when booting or having issues with charging somehow. For some, a full reset fixes matters, but others are left with a dead watch. For many users on that thread, too, they mention just skipping the update for fear the update will break their watch.
Obviously, that’s pretty frustrating. Worse yet, it seems Fitbit is a bit stubborn about replacing these devices. Users mention that replacement units aren’t being offered with the blame being assigned to the user in some cases. I’d take some of that with a grain of salt, but with so many comments mentioning the same thing, it’s clear something’s wrong with how Fitbit is handling the situation. Fitting, since they were purchased by Google. Some affected users, though, did manage to get 25% off discounts for new hardware.
Hopefully, Fitbit can iron out these problems. Let us know in the comments if you’ve had issues with a Fitbit Ionic following recent updates.

This situation happened to me, as well. It makes me not want to buy another Fitbit, for fear they will all stop working after an update. They should do more to help their loyal customers.
Has anyone found a way to fix the problem yet?
