Charge 2 detecting steps while not being worn

My 2 yr old Charge 2 is normally just used at night for monitoring Sleep, (sadly I found the Steps so wildly inaccurate)! Last week it stopped monitoring and after numerous difficult research on the Community Forums etc, I have uninstalled, rebooted etc, etc - thankfully it's now appears to be working. However, it has sat on my desk for three days, whilst I have been following numerous advice postings. Why then, is it showing that 'Today' it has mysteriously managed to register 1420 Steps? What the heck is wrong?

@SunsetRunner It's nice to have you on board! Sorry for the delay in my reply.

Let me help you with your Charge 2 detecting steps while you weren't wearing it. Your device will detect the movement on your arm and translate that movement into steps. There are situations in which your arm may move but you won't be actually walking. For example, this may happen when you are playing the drums, burping a baby or clapping. It can also happen while driving. In this case it could be that your tracker was near a vibrating device. For example a fan, an AC unit, an alarm clock or working computer may cause vibrations that your tracker may pick up.  You can negate these steps by logging a driving activity. You can try wearing your device on your non-dominant hand but select that hand as dominant on the device’s settings to make it less sensitive to movement.

Also happy to hear that you were able to correct the sleep detection issue.

Let me know how it goes.

Since noticing the Charge 2 wasn’t always recording my Sleep record, another issue has arisen. Yesterday whilst the watch was being charged on my Desk, I noticed that it had recorded 6,861 steps! Should I dispose of the watch as being totally useless or can it be repaired?
I run 13.4.1 on my iPhone if this has any relevance! 😞
