Charge 2 difference in distance logging

I've got a Charge 2 and my running buddy has a Charge 4. When we run our 5k together the difference on our Fitbit's is about 400m.  Why would 2 Charge's record the differences so differently?

Let me help you with the difference in the distance calculation. I don't know the settings on your friends account and tracker but we can take a look at yours. Your device uses the number of steps and stride length to calculate the distance. You can improve the accuracy by measuring and logging your stride length. Feel free to use these instructions to do this.
