My Charge 2 tracker doesn't show the phone icon when I select the activity...no gps map after workout. I've gone through all the settings on my ios phone to make sure everything is enabled but gps must be turned off in my tracker. I can only get a gps map if I manually start and stop the workout on my iphone.
Any advice?

i have tried every solution but still my fitbit charge 2 some times it worked fine but sometimes it doesn't.
This is so frustrating that customer care have no solution for that. one time they suggested me to use only Cellular data no wifi while connecting to fitbit.
So inconvenient that first you have to swtich off the wifi and then connect the fitbit to GPS.

This is extremely frustrating. I’ve had maybe two runs that connected to the gps. And I’ve even tried making sure WiFi is off when I connect. Do I have to keep the Fitbit app open (and not accidentally hit home button or switch over to my music or workout apps)? If so that’s pretty irritating FitBit can’t figure out how to run in the background. The ability to use gps to track accurately runs and my pace is why I purchased this device and not the Alta.

are you using IOS ? i had the same issue with iphone on 11.03 but now i have upgraded to IOS 11.1 and seems to be working so far. but you need to keep your app open before you start GPS based activity.
Hope this will help you.

I know i'm in also same boat. It's so frustrating when you pay money for these product and they doesn't work as expected. And on top of that customer care is not that help. One time they told me that it is because of wifi so i have to turn off wifi first before connecting to app using GPS. But last time they mention that their team is working on this issue.
I have asked them that it's just 3-4 month old, so if that is the case then can i get exchange with other device. They say no, you can return it to store if you are in return period.

Opening the app before starting the activity is the only way I can get GPS to work on my Ch2.

I am having the same frustrations. My fit bit is connected to my GPS, my Bluetooth is turned on, my Fitbit app is open, and and I nearly always have to reset my phone or my charge HR. Frankly it’s too much hassle to have a fit bit charge in the first place. The big selling point is supposed to be that you press one button and go for a run. I chose the fit bit charge over the Alta because of the GPS functionality and I can barely get it to work. I’m usually just frustrated by the time I head out for a run. Other little quirks starts to happen as well. For instance, sometimes heart rate reading drops. During the day or at night. Will stop using and go back to mapmyrun. I’m not resetting my phone or fitbit each morning to go for a run. Fitbit is a great idea but it’s not quite ready for primetime. And the issue is not solved as the thread says.

I just want to echo what everyone else is saying. This issue is NOT fixed. I, too have tried all the obvious things: resetting, reinstalling the app etc. Nothing works. This is CLEARLY a software problem and needs to be fixed IMMEDIATELY. According to this thread people are already giving up on Fitbit and moving to something else. If this issue is not resolved soon I believe I will be joining them.

Fitbit support is living on an other planet, there is nothing solved, they only sent over and over how to setup your iphone and charge2.
What do they think that we are stupid?
We checked it over and over again.
PLEASE SOLV THIS PROBLEM

I just called Fitbit support. Their response was to tell me to restart. I wish someone knowledgeable about Fitbit and an actual employee (not a call center) would hop on here and help us.

I've had this issue with Charge 2 and iPhone (IOS 11). Found that I needed to have Location Services ON, Fitbit app set to Always, and share My Location turned on for the phone. Now stop and restart the Fitbit app (double click home button and swipe the app up, then click on app to restart). Now when I start a run/walk etc. on the fitbit device it starts GPS tracking and seems to work fine. Not yet tried auto start.

This problem has not been fixed. I am having the same problem. I run the same route and the mile markers are different each time which is skewing my time and distance travelled. The GPS/run function is the reason I bought the charge 2. I am seriously considering buying a different brand of fitness tracker that actually works!!

This topic is marked as solved.
I am in Android 8.1 and also Windows 10 (last edition).
Charge 2 does not do GPS in the 2 systems.
Neither doing what Manual/ FAQ / Help says, nor restarting Charge 2.
This problem is not solved.
And I bought it only 2 weeks ago. The Android update of today didn't solve the problem.
As Fitbit does not give a decent answer, FOR 2 YEARS, please say what we can buy and is working.

@SunsetRunner I would like to say buy a galaxy S phone, I have had 3 different ones and connected GPS has worked. I do find that it helps to swipe unneeded apps out of memory and often restart the phone. Restart is needed sometimes because android has a memory management problem.
I find freeing up unneeded memory helps.

The problem is definitely not solved. I just got a Charge 2 and the GPS connect worked once. I tried everything that can be done. I even worked with tech support. Fitbit is being disingenuous by claiming this functionality. They have no interest in supporting their customers. Tech support says that this is a known problem and they are working on a solution as quickly as possible. Two years and still no solution. I've asked for an ETA on a fix and they won't give me one. I suspect they've abandoned this trying to fix this for the Charge 2 as any credible software team would have dealt with this in a timely manner. It makes me wary of using their products.

Almost 2020 and this issue was never resolved. Obviously their solution is for everyone to buy a newer model although I don't know why I'd expect "newer" to be "better" LOL.
What's aggravating is that GPS tracking worked for quite a while then quit. Seems like it shouldn't be a problem for the developers to back track and find the problem so they can fix it. Apparently will never happen though.
In addition, Fitbit is doubling every activity with "My Fitness Pal", whatever that is. Messes up my stats. All in all, Fitbit has been a big disappointment other than as a simple step tracker.
