Brought my daughter a Fitbit charge 2 for her birthday today, I have one myself so I know how it works but, I’ve plugged it in to charge, it did vibrate but there is no battery icon. Is it still charging?

Let me help you with your unresponsive Charge 2. Try cleaning the contacts using cotton with rubbing alcohol then charge it by plugging it for a couple of hours directly to your computer's usb port (try different ports) or use an UL listed usb wall adapter. After this, restart your device and see how it behaves. You can also find additional suggestions here.
