Charge 2 - not tracking exercise

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Fitbit 2 has stopped auto tracking exercise although active minutes and steps are working and showing correctly.  This has been ongoing for a week.  The auto recognised goals are all set to 15 mins or longer, there aren’t any outstanding IOS updates, i’ve reset it 3 times (plugged it in to charger and held in the button for a few seconds), logged out and in again, switched Bluetooth off and on again.  Any advice on what else I can try?  I’ve had the device for just over a year (and i’ve definitely been doing 30min plus exercise every day this week!).

Thanks in advance.

Hey @CP2008, welcome to the Community! Thanks for taking the time to restart your Charge 2 to make it automatically track your exercise as it used to do. Let me explain to you that SmartTrack recognizes activities based on the continuous movement of your arms. Sometimes, motions such as placing your arms on the bar of a treadmill, or pushing a stroller while you walk, may interrupt SmartTrack. Additionally, stopping in the middle of an exercise may interrupt the activity tracking.

By default, SmartTrack recognizes an exercise that lasts at least 15 minutes. If your activities aren't being recognized, lowering the time auto-exercise recognition setting to 10 minutes may help ensure they record properly.

Give it a try and let me know how it goes!

Hi, thanks for responding. I have reduced the time down to 10 mins as you suggested and it’s still not registering. I’ve been doing an aerobics class so constant moving. Have also tried putting the Fitbit on my other wrist and a new strap. Any suggestions as to what I can do now to fix this?  Thanks in advance.

Hey @CP2008, I hope you are doin' great! I'm sorry to hear that SmartTrack is still not logging your activity and thank you for taking the time to troubleshoot this issue. To get credit for your activity, you can manually log it by following these instructions

As an alternative option, you can use exercise mode on your tracker or the MobileRun feature of the Fitbit app to ensure all your activities are recorded.

Thanks for your reply. So today it recorded an 11 minute walk (1st time it has tracked any exercise in a week) but it didn’t record a 20 min high impact aerobic workout..?!

I’ll try your second suggestion...would seem to me that I might get more accurate results than recording something manually.

thanks again!

Hey @CP2008, thanks for getting back to me! As a workaround, you can also try to manually log your activity, so please go ahead and try tat out. And let me know how is it going in the next few days if it tracks your exercises again.

I'll be around!

Hi, I appreciate the response above was from 2018 but I was wondering if the problem still exists for some- certainly doe with my Charge2? For no reason, it stopped tracking automatically recently. I’ve reduced/ increased time. I’ve reset. I’ve switched on & off. I’ve switched the Bluetooth off/on and it still doesn’t detect anymore.

Any other suggestions? Thanks, Julie
