Charge 2 not tracking steps accurately

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I just got a Charge 2. It's not correctly tracking my steps, sometimes not even at all. Also, having issues syncing to my S7, I have to open the app and refresh...but the settings are fixed to All day sync. I'm new to this, so any help would be appreciated!

Welcome on board @JessP85, it's nice to see you around! Remember that the wrist trackers count steps depending on the movement of your arms. You can learn more about how your Fitbit tracks steps by checking the article: How accurate are Fitbit devices?

If after taking these factors into account you still think your tracker is not counting your steps correctly, please try a step test:

1. Put your wrist-based tracker on your wrist or put your clip-on tracker on your hip or torso.
2. Walk 100 steps, making sure to count a step each time one of your feet hits the ground.
3. Pause, then check your tracker to see your step count.

Thanks for your reports with these Android 9.0 syncing difficulties. We’re aware of this ongoing issue and have been working to identify a resolution as quickly as possible.

However, we have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.

First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.

Then, disable battery limitations:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Fitbit app > Advanced > Battery > Battery optimization
  2. Change view to All apps
  3. Search for Fitbit app
  4. Choose Not optimized

Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

Let me know if you need further assistance.
