Charge 2 registers steps while raising my arm

I wear a Charge 2 watch but notice that almost every time I raise my arm a step is registered. I am thinking of updating to a later fitbit model, does anyone have knowledge of how to avoid the problem please? Many thanks

@Paul13D   All wrist worn trackers can register arm movements as steps, even if it it just an arm movement.  If you wear your Charge 2 on your non-dominant wrist, try changing the wrist setting to dominant in the mobile app.  This changes the Fitbit motion sensitivity.  It can reduce, but won't eliminate this issue.  I always change Fitbit settings to see what happens.  My step count can be 800-1000 steps per day lower by having it on the dominant setting.

My daughter loves her Charge 2 and and turned down upgrade gifts from me.  It's a great device, especially if it still meets your needs.

Thanks for getting back to us and for sharing your step count inquiry @Paul13D.

As @LZeeW mentioned, Fitbit devices have a finely-tuned algorithm for step counting. The algorithm is designed to look for intensity and motion patterns that are most indicative of people walking and running. When working at a desk, cooking, or performing other activities with arm movements, a device on your wrist may add some steps. When you’re doing activities that involve arm movement—such as working or cooking—you often walk a few steps in-between stationary periods as well, so the device tries to give you credit for those steps. For most customers, the number of extra steps added by arm-based movement isn’t significant when compared to your overall stats. I hope this information helps you.
