Charge 2 sensor lights blinking, screen off, reset not working

Hello, I bought a Charge 2 used this morning, and saw it working. It was unpaired front eh previous owner. It had about 18% battery. When I got home I started pairing, entered the pin the FBC2 showed, and then the screen at some point just turned off. Since then the screen has been completely off, and the two sensor lights blinking in unison about 2x/sec. Connecting to the charger (does not show anything, and does not seem to charge according to a battery pack I tried as well), resetting, factory resetting, all have not worked. My phone shows a last connection at the time that this happened, but does not see the FBC2 (even after BT off / wait / on again).

 

I‘d be happy for any hints. At this point, I‘m thinking about just waiting for the battery to drain and try again and hope that it works. Thanks!

Update: a few hours later, after more unsuccessful charging (USB power supply, powerblock battery, computer USB ports) and resetting attempts, now the sensor lights have stopped blinking and I am trying charging again, hoping the battery may be empty and it will boot the watch and charge. Lets see what happens.

After an hour on the charger the sensor lights started blinking again as above. They stopped again soon afterwards though. The watch does not pair, and is not seen by the phone or app. I will let it discharge for a few days and then try again. It is disappointing that apparently it cannot even be hard-reset at this point.
