My Charge 2 has stopped tracking sleep. Has not tracked any sleep at all for the past week. This is very frustrating. What can be done about this issue?

@lwbnascar3 Welcome to the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here! You can try restarting your tracker by doing the following:
Plug the charging cable to your computer or UL certified wall adapter.
Align the contacts of the tracker with the charging cable and plug it in making sure it snaps securely.
Your tracker should start charging.
Press the button for 10 to 12 seconds.
You should see your tracker's firmware version and you can now unplug your tracker.
Make sure you are wearing your tracker and that it has the heart rate set to on or auto. Additionally remember that your tracker will start tracking sleep after it detects an hour of inactivity so if you have a light sleep it may make difficult for your tracker to start the logs.
Finally you can use the app to start and stop the sleep log or manually log it on your account.
Let me know how it goes!

Buy a different fitness tracker. I too have the Charge 2 and it's the last Fitbit product I will ever buy. Sleep tracking doesn't work and it doesn't record stairs. I have followed a bunch of post on this and other Fitbit board and the answers are all the same. Restart the track, update firmware and voila....nothing changes. At least the Notifications and the time still work on mine. such a sad product.

Well my Fitbit Charge 2 has started tracking sleep again. It pulled in that week that I was missing, but does not have the sleep stages for that week - just the duration. Wierd, I didn't do anything different. Sometimes it takes a while to sync. I just use the app on my cellphone when syncing. But it seems to be working fine now. Thanks!

I woke this morning and I couldn’t see my sleep for last night. Nothing appears. It is like last night did not happen. I reset my charge 2 by plugging in and pushing button twice. Nada. How do I get my Fitbit to track sleep again?

I turned the lights off that tracked my sleep but now I want to turn them back on and don't know how to do it.

There’s apparently been a very recent update to Charge 2 - It seems to be affecting a lot of fitbits, mine included.
I’ve had my Charge 2 fitbit for many months.
It has worked perfectly until my sleep record stopped working normally during Friday night, 9th August 2019, now hasn’t worked properly for 3 nights.
It shows a simplified version of my sleep record, says it can’t get a consistent heart rate reading while I slept. On tapping ‘more details’, it shows this message:
![]() | Error: Error ID: 938959608-60905 (-1729621941) |
My heart rate, which I see mentioned in some posts, looks absolutely fine for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. I have never done anything to my fitbit that I see mentioned on help sites - I am totally non-technical, so it’s all beyond me.

Same here. Priblems since recent update of App. Degradation in software. Sleep not tracked any more. Help, or rollback software, but if it is not solved it is my last fitbit product. It used to work great!!!

Summed it up completely. Had mine since May 2018. It’s had new straps, two replacement pebbles in the first year. I would never buy another FitBit.

Has anyone had any recent trouble in tracking their sleep. I have tried charging as suggested above and pressing button until fitbit logo shows but still doesn't track.
Reluctant to put back to factory settings etc as I want to keep all my history ( had my fitbit for 2.5 years now ).

Same problem. No more tracking for lat 5 nights. Had charge 2 for years. I like it but want this fixed. I'm on Android so it's not related to iOS 13.
Please help resolve. Can't just be coincidence. Something has been inadvertently broken.

I resolved it in the end by simply turning off my phone And switching it back on again.

My Charge 2 stopped reliably recording my sleep about a month ago. It's working about 1 night a week and doesn't give sleep details. Last night I got over 7 hrs. sleep and it recorded the first 1 hr and 5 minutes. I have tried resetting the device and reinstalling the App but nothing has helped. I'm going to try something different tonight.

This morning I got full sleep details and the time was accurate. Yesterday I did this https://www.google.com/search?q=fitbit+charge+2+stopped+recognizing+sleep&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS787US787&o... and it seems to work. Time will tell.

My fix only lasted one night. I've run out of things to try.

My charge 2 has also stopped tracking sleep. I will try your suggestion for a fix.

GOOD LUCK! I sure hope it works for you. Knowing myself I'll try it again to see if I can get to take.

I did it a second time and now my sleep has been tracked 3 nights in a row. I don't know if it fixed it or not but it sure is frustrating when the Fitbit acts up.
