My charge 2 doesn't sync, the error message says check if the tracker is already connected to another device and disconnect them... but it is not connected...

Hey guys! I hope you are doin' great today! Robot Happy

I can see that most of you are getting syncing issues with your Windows 10 computers. I also noticed that you mentioned that you tried multiple troubleshooting to fix this, however, since some of you didn't specify what did you try so far, I'd like you to take a look at the following steps and try what you haven't:

Syncing difficulty is usually caused by a missing requirement. Verify each requirement before moving on to the troubleshooting steps.

  • The most recent version of the Fitbit app for Windows 10 is installed.
  • Fitbit Connect software isn't installed.

This software helps computers that can't run the Fitbit app for Windows 10 communicate with a device, so if you've had a Fitbit device for a while or someone else who uses the computer had one you may have Fitbit Connect installed. Look for an icon with the Fitbit logo User-added imagenear the date and time on your computer screen. If you see this icon, uninstall Fitbit Connect using the same process for uninstalling any program.

  • Bluetooth is turned on. Bluetooth allows your computer to communicate with your Fitbit device. To verify, go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth. If you can't find this setting and don't know whether your computer supports Bluetooth, this blog explains how to check for Bluetooth compatibility.
  • If your computer doesn't support Bluetooth, it can still communicate with your device if you purchase a wireless sync dongle from the Fitbit Store.

If your device still won't sync, try these steps:

  1. From the Start menu go to Settings > Bluetooth. Make sure you see your device on the list with the word “Connected” below.
  2. If your device isn't connected:
    1. Tap or click the device name and choose Remove Device.
    2. Make sure your device is nearby and wait for it to reappear in the devices list.
    3. When it does, tap or click the device again and choose Pair. The pairing process can take several minutes but when it's done the Bluetooth status should change to “Connected.”
  3. If your device is connected but won't sync, it's possible your computer's Bluetooth signal is weak or temporarily compromised. Try using the wireless sync dongle, available from the Fitbit Store.
  4. If your Fitbit device won't sync after you reinstall the app, log in to your Fitbit account on a different phone, tablet, or computer and try to sync.
  5. If your Fitbit device still doesn’t sync, remove all other Fitbit devices from your account and from the list of connected Bluetooth devices on your computer and try to sync.

Give it a try folks and let me know how it goes!

I am having the same problem. I just bought a Charge 2 and it will not pair with my Windows 10 computer. My Bluetooth is 4.0, so I don't understand why there is a problem here.

Hello everyone, I have exactly the same problem. I use Windows 10 to import the data. For last 10 days, I am not able to connect my device. It keeps saying 'looking for a tracker'. I tried nearly everything, apart from completely removing and re-registering the device. The idea it might be something wrong with the recent Windows 10 updates is that my partner and my mother they also have charge 2 and also import the data via Windows 10 on their own laptops, and they get the same exact error. I also tried to use the dongle, but again no luck. If it wasn't for the fact that my mum and my partner experience the same issue I would have thought my fitbit just given up on me after a year of fabulous service.  I hope we will be able to resolve this problem.

I have also tried everything and it isn't working. Honestly I don't know what else I can do... Besides the fact that I cannot use properly my fitbit as a tracker, because I'm travelling and I cannot adjust the time, my fitbit is almost uselessness...

why should a customer have to buy a dongle if the product is not working like it should?

Thanks for jumping in here, welcome @abcdefghijklmn1! The newest Fitbit devices are not being shipped with dongles, although dongles can be used. They can be synced with any computer that has Bluetooth. A lot of computers don't need a dongle in order to sync with Fitbit trackers. The most current version of Fitbit Connect for Mac and the Windows 10 App supports syncing using a computer's native Bluetooth, click here for more information.

I'd also recommend making sure that you have the most current version of either the Windows 10 App or Fitbit Connect installed on your computer. Click here to download the most current version of both

Additionally, you can double check to see if your mobile device is compatible with syncing Fitbit trackers here.

I'll be around if you need further assistance!

The problem seems to persist, no matter what I do. Installing, uninstalling, using different computers! And Im not spending another 20 dollars on a dongle. I have been a customer for years, starting with the charge hr until the band started separating from the fitbit itself. Maybe this unit is defective!

I'm not sure I understand the need for the app. I logged into fitbit.com and I can see my dashboard etc.

So, do I need an app, too? In addition to logging into the fitbit site?

I can get it to sync while logged into the fitbit site, but it seem to only work if I have my phone near by and I sync my phone. Is that a coincidence?

Is there a way, when I'm logged into fitbit.com to force a sync? A "sync now" button?

Thanks for your help.

tried everything … unbelieve that Fitbit blames this all on Microsoft. Will try to activate on a very old iTablet. Very disappointed.

Ok, I have a Charge 3 that has not synced since April 15/2020.   I have followed all the steps in the list of how to solve the problem but no luck.  If I am correct it appears that something happened in or around this date to cause this problem - possibly a software update to Windows 10 but just a guess.

Steps I have taken.

1.  Verified current software version - yes

2.  Checked for app Fitbit Connect - deleted app

3.  Checked for app Fitbit - installed

3.  Wifi - confirmed working for all other apps and software

4.  Bluetooth - working

5.  List of devices using bluetooth - confirm all other devices , Charge 3 not on list.

6.  Add Bluetooth device - selected and when Charge 3 shows up - selected it and waited

7.  Charge 3 will not connect - message states try connecting your device again

Stated fitbit app and it can never pair with my tracker.  In fact, it used to come up with an error message do you want pair device and that usually worked but not the error message doesn't show up.

What has happened to cause this issue - my guess is a conflicting update with the Fitbit software app.

FYI - I have now ordered the dongle to try in hopes that everything will go back to how it was.

I also did a restart on the Charge 3 as per somewhere in the solutions.  Nothing is working and I do not want to lose all the information that is currently stored so I do not want to delete and add this device again.

If you have any other suggestions I look forward to trying them.

OK, I ordered the dongle from Amazon (Fitbit site would not sell or ship to Canada ???) and my problem is solved.  Guess I was wrong,  probably a bluetooth problem not a software conflict.  I suggest getting the dongle (less ten $20) even it is not required as the upload is so much faster now.
