My charge 2 is frequently not counting steps. I’ve gone for 2 mile runs and gotten 15 steps. Anyone have this problem and can anything be done?

Same here.  Somedays it counts steps, other days it doesn't. This morning I did two miles on the treadmill.  It only tracked about 1500 steps... yesterday it was around 4000. I should have well over 10,000 steps for today but, it has only tracked a little over 8,000.  Also, it once tracked 44 steps when I was sleeping. Not sure what is going on but, I am a bit frustrated as I need to log steps for work.  This counts towards decreasing my insurance premiums.  And yes, I have reset the tracker on many occasions.  It seems to track incorrectly every few days.

@natalie3579 Welcome to the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here!

Sorry to hear that your Charge 2 isn't counting steps while you are walking on your treadmill. Your device will detect the movement on your arm and translate that movement into steps. There are situations in which your arm may move but you won't be actually walking and vice versa. This may happen when you are playing the drums, burping a baby or clapping and the opposite can happen when you push a cart. It can also happen when driving. For added sensitivity you can try wearing your device on your dominant hand but select that hand as non dominant on the device’s settings to make it more sensitive to movement.

When using the treadmill make sure you don't grab the arm rails as this will prevent it from recording your movement which means it won't detect your steps.

Let me know how it goes.

As for not holding onto the handrail when I'm on the treadmill, Fitbit needs to come up with an idea to fix this. I have severe arthritis throughout my body and need to hold the handrails to maintain stability and staying centered on the belt. I'm going to try what another user suggested and putting the watch in my pocket when I start the exercise, but like he said, you lose the heart rate data. It's kind of disheartening to see myself walk one mile on the treadmill, but the Fitbit will say 0.04 miles.
