Charge 2 won't turn on

Hey there,

Ive currently come into possession of a second hand Charge 2 that wont turn on.

There was no vibration when I plugged the device in to charge.

Was just curious if there was a way to reset it or if the device itself is faulty

@Stiggs, if you can't get a slight vibration when the tracker is put on the charger, it may mean that the battery is totally dead, and does not have enough power to create the vibration.  Place it on the charger for 2 hours to let it fully charge. Then take it off the charger and put it back on the charger - if it still does not vibrate, it is probably a back tracker.

@Stiggs It's great to see that you've visited the Fitbit Community! You can also try cleaning the tracker's contacts with a toothpick or toothbrush then use a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol (use this also on the charging cable). Another thing your try is once you have left it plugged for a couple of hours like @USAF-Larry said you can try restarting it. To restart your tracker please do the following:

Plug the charging cable to your computer or UL certified wall adapter.
Align the contacts of the tracker with the charging cable and plug it in making sure it snaps securely.
Your tracker should start charging.
Press the button for 10 to 12 seconds.
You should see your tracker's firmware version and you can now unplug your tracker.

Let me know how it goes!

Still doesn't vibrate but the green lights on the back are flashing.

I dont know what that means or if it helps at all.

Hey @Stiggs! Thanks for taking the time to follow the steps that my friends @AlvaroFitbit and @Stiggs posted above. I'd like to ask you something, when you reach your daily goal (steps, distance or the goal that you have chosen) does your Charge 2 vibrate? And what happens when you start an exercise from the multisport feature? Does it vibrate? I would like you to tell me if is not vibrating at all or just when you plug it into the charging cable.

I'll be looking to your response!

Depending on how long the battery has been dead, and self destructing, it might take 12 -16 hours charging  before any life is seen. I suggest using the phones wall wart

Hi, was this resolved? I am having the same issue. I now have my second replacement Charge 2 from Fitbit, but it also does not work, will not turn on, and does not vibrate when it is plugged into the charger. I let the first replacement sit on the charger for 24 hours and it still would not turn on.

Hey @FitIrby, welcome to the Community! Cat Happy Oh! I'm sorry to hear that you are also getting issues with your second Charge 2. Have you tried to restart it? If you haven't, please do the following:

1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port.
3. Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable. You'll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker's display. Your Charge 2 will begin charging.
4. Press and hold the button on your tracker for four seconds. When you see the Fitbit logo and the tracker vibrates, this means the tracker has restarted.
5. Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.

Catch ya' later!

Hi, the Charge 2 does not vibrate when I put it into the charger. There is no battery icon. I have tried this reset method and got nothing. I’m assuming I’m placing it into the charger correctly because it only goes one way and prior to my original Charge 2 stopping working, it was charging fine.

Has this unit been setup yet? If not you will not see a charging icon.

I can’t set it up. My iPhone or my iPad won’t pick it up on Bluetooth

To clarify: it won’t turn on at all. It won’t charge. It’s not emitting a Bluetooth signal so I can’t set it up.

I charge my Charge 2 for the time I am wearing the Charge HR, dashboard says it synced this morning but when I go to wear it the tracker will not turn on. I have 3 trackers, one I have disabled on the dashboard because of syncing issues so I keep my Charge HR and Charge 2 charging in a room at least 20 feet from my laptop.
The last time I put the Charge 2 in the charger and switched out to the Charge HR I made sure that the Charge 2 tracker was locked in and vibrated. I confirmed it was charging.

I went to wear the Charge 2 this afternoon and nothing. It won't turn on.
This happens almost every time I try to switch out. The last time I called help and they had me go charge it again. Surprise it started charging again. Then it was okay for the week I wore it and now we are back to this ongoing issue.

I have the same problem. Charge 2 was working fine til just this evening. Now it is DEAD. No green lights no vibrate on connection to the harness no battery icon NOTHING ZILCH!!!

I have charged it and reset it many times so I do know how to connect it properly to the harness. I think that the battery must have died but a second opinion would be good...

I have the same problem.  The only thing different was that for the first time, I forgot to recharge it when I was notified the battery was low, and the battery probably emptied completely, but this time, no light, no vibration.  This is my third Fitbit so I do know how to charge it.  I have left it on the charger for 2 days at a time then tried restarting... then back to the charger, and repeat.  I'm beginning to suspect that Fitbit's longevity is an issue....
