Charge 3 Reliability?

I have been considering a Charge 3 for its features over an Apple 3 Watch. I like all the health features and more. I have two concerns. 1) How reliable is the Charge 3? I see all the problems posted in the forums and am concerned. and 2) Many times I buy an electronic device only to find a new model/version is coming out soon. Since the Charge 3 seems to be several years old, could a new product be in the works?

I think the Charge 3 was released in October 2018

As for reliability, the forums is a good indicator of the issues, but I expect all gadgets like this has their issues and with different features

Of course, when I look on Amazon and see the Charge 3 has 40% 5-star reviews and 35% 1-star reviews, I have to wonder why anyone would want to take a chance on a Charge 3.  And apparently Fitbit has noticed this, because the Charge 3 is selling for $35 LESS than the Charge 2 right now.

I have had both the Charge 2 and 3, and neither is reliable.  It's actually much worse because Fitbit doesn't offer any support other than mostly useless forums and many of the units just quit working after a short time.  Mine included.
