Charge 3 band snapped

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have had my Charge 3 band for 13 months now. The band snapped in my sleep last night. So because I am out of my one year warranty do I have to buy another band myself?

i have seen that many other people have had the same issue as me. If that is the case that I have to buy another band myself, I will not be purchasing any more Fitbit products. The products always seem to break as soon as the warranty is up.

I woke up this morning and the band was disconnected from the watch and lying in the bed with me, the other day was walking in my living room and it just disconnected from the unit and it all hit the floor.

Bought mine and it was sized large and the sports band in the box, was a Small...go figure. Spoke to the help desk and they stated that I could purchase a large sports band, not happening.

To have the watch band break just after the warranty is over is good for Fitbit as it shows that their program is set correctly for the quality of the products they make.  Does that make the watch user happy, No! This type of failure occurrence should drive Fitbit to examine the quality of their Charge 3 band manufacturing.

My Fitbit band, black L/G, failure mode is it  just broke 1 inch from the buckle end and with another crack in the band which would break after further use. Unfortunately for Fitbit Quality Department the band on my Fitbit Charge 3 has no date code or other manufacturing codes that would help to isolate the time and batch of plastic resin that was used and to verify if the manufacturing parameters were at acceptable when this watch band was injection molded. The second failure mode fracture in the black L/G band is at the end of the slot  to the edge of the band and this fracture is also at the other edge of this slot. Both fractures are over 1/2 the thickness of the band. These failure modes would point to and abnormal process variation  or problem with the resin pellets used to injection this black watch band. This watch was used in normal human wear in normal temperature environment.

Prediction is that Fitbit customers that have the Black L/G watch band for Charge 3 will experience an abnormal amount of breakage of their watch band.

The big question is what will Fitbit do to prevent further watch band failures.  Engineers at the  manufacturer need to implement at CAPA, Corrective Action Preventative Action and to find the true Root Cause of fractures in their black watch band  failure mode.

My prediction is that customers with Charge 3 black L/G band will experience an abnormal amount of band failures.

I know how to do that....Not an IDIOT.

The band just disconnected on its own.

I just bought 3 different replacement bands on Amazon at a very good price and I am wearing the leather replacement band now😀.  If Fitbit is counting on users to buy Fitbit replacement from they are wrong. There quality is unacceptable as is their Warranty on the Bands ☹️. I made sure the to by replacement bands that come with a 2 year Warranty.😀
