I have a charge 3 and the screen it is black.
I have performed a factory reset, tried to update and the screen still will not turn on.
I change the clock face and still the same, screen it is black.

My Charge 3 screen is black too! I have tried everything I can think of too! My Charge 3 still connects to the Fitbit app but I can’t read its screen… totally black. Very upsetting….now considering a different type of device….maybe an Apple Watch. I am tired of this black screen and fonts you cannot read!

Mine is black also. I got it Dec. 2018. I really like it and was told to check settings on my phone to brighten it but there's nothing on my app for that. I don't want to change put I might.

Plug the device into the charging cable.
While the device is plugged into the charging cable, hold the button down for 15 seconds.
Remove your finger from button.
Remove the device from the charging cable.
Plug the device into the charging cable again.
The smiley face icon appears on the screen.

Thank you for the advice.
I did exactly as you said, but still Fitbit face is still black. I did it a couple of times and still black.
This is very unfortunate, because I also really like it. But very leery of purchasing another. It always had a hard to read screen but at least I could see it, but it has always been hard to read!
Also, I would rather be able to do functions of my Fitbit from the App like we were able to do from the earlier versions of the Fitbit Charge 1 or 2. Don’t remember what my first Fitbit was, except it was a Charge version.
Again thank you for your help.

You're not alone, mine too.
Tried all the resets and still a blank screen.
Fitbit need to recognise this a fault. Mines just 3 years old.
Appears that we live in a fitbit disposable world.
