Charge 3 brightness failing

I updated to the new firmware last week and I could no longer see my screen at all when I was outside using the normal brightness. I saw the advice to use the auto brightness, and this made it visible again. However, it doesn’t make sense to me that the auto brightness can get brighter than either of the manual options. Can this be fixed in a future release?
