Welcome to the Fitbit Community @SueClarke! Have you checked the brightness settings on your Charge 3? Please open the Settings App and tap a settings to adjust it (brightness in this case).
If this doesn't work; I'd recommend voting for this Feature Suggestion:
Feel free to create other ideas if that one doesn't really fulfill what you are asking for.
We're constantly striving to improve Fitbit products and services, and we very much appreciate all of the input we receive from our customers.
For anything else you would like to see implemented in the future, consider visiting our Feature Suggestions board. This is a space where Community users can post features, ideas, and suggestions that they'd like to see in future Fitbit products, accessories, and software and top-voted suggestions get relayed to our product team for review.
Hope this helps, keep me posted!

Change the brightness setting the Auto. I did and I was able to see it fine when on my walk yesterday and it was VERY sunny.

Hi there,
I thought it was just me until I went into the forums and online reviews, only to realise it's such a widespread problem. I've had my Charge 3 for about a year but I've had to go back to my Charge 2 for everyday use, (thus making the Charge 3 redundant!) simply because anywhere outside of a shaded room I cannot see anything on the screen.
Yes I have tried rebooting it and yes the settings have been altered. Regardless of 'normal' or 'auto', the situation is the same.
If this is a feature fault, it would make me hesitant to buy another Fitbit or recommend to anyone else to get a Charge 3.
Please advise on how to get this sorted!
Thanks in advance.

I am having the same problem which makes me hesitant to buy another Fitbit as well or any other accessories. The watchbands that came with the watch are also of suspect quality and prone to ripping.

I’m having the same exact problem. I can barely see anything. Time, heart rate, settings, etc. I have rebooted my Fitbit and still nothing.
It’s at the point where I don’t even wear it anymore. Very disappointing! Not recommending this device until there’s a fix!

I have the same problem. Changing the brightness in the watch’s settings did NOT solve the problem. Frustrating!
Try for yourself and see if that works for you:
Slide your finger on the watch’s screen right to left 4 times to get to settings. Click on settings and the first option is “brightness”. Select “normal”.
