My charge 3 will not let me increase the brightness to a level I can see.  Very dim display, unable to read.  Any suggestions?

Was this due to recent update? Mine did the same thing.

Try turning off sleep mode. It fixed mine and there are a lit ik f people with the same problem since the last update.

Once you have tried the reset/ restart described above and the Charge3 is still dim try this.

1) Go somewhere very dark. A closet may work.

2) Press side button. On my Charge3 the time appears ( may require multiple presses to get to the time display depending on where your screen is at.

3) Swipe left. On my Charge 3, swiping 4 times took me to the settings screen.

4) Tap on settings ( The 3 lines with circles in different locations on each line )

5) 2 settings will appear. The top of the screen is for Brightness. Tap once on this to scroll to the next brightness setting.

6) There are 3 Brightness settings, Normal, Auto, and Dim. Normal works well for me. I doubt if anywhere an engineer has described Auto.

7) Pray that one day Fitbit will decide to publish these methods for their plethora of watches or hire an engineer to standardize things to retain their customers that flee in frustration at the bafflement of Fitbit attempting to encourage them to buy yet another watch.

😎 Get outta the closet! People are talking about your behaviour!

Same problem here - the light is so dim I can barely see anything. I did the steps above and it didn't help at all.  What else do you have?

OMS! Had same issue. Did everything.  Nothing worked.  Then saw something about screen on sleep. I tapped on that and, wellah, bright screen. i never set it to sleep. Never knew that was there. Learn something new every day.  ps...when I went there, it didn't appear the screen was on sleep but I tapped it anyway, bright screen!

Ha! These steps worked perfectly! I had been struggling with the dim screen for 2 days. Finally logged into my laptop and downloaded the Fitbit app to get help. Thanks so much!!!

This is the best of all 500 comments I've read on this obvious problem.  You gave clear consise instructions (which way to swipe(left) what to look for (settings).  None of the other suggestions worked (reboot, restart etc)

Thanks for your suggestion.  I'm definitely going to look at an apple watch as a better solution.

The programmers dimmed the screen to sell more gadgets. This sucks.

There has to be a means by which consumers can stop this malpractice.

Bright still did not allow me to read the tracker in a grocery store.

Someone screwed up the program intentionally.

Thank you …. I’ve fixed it 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I swiped left on my device to the end and went to settings . My screen was set to dim so changed it & also scrolled down and turned sleep mode off too to be doubly sure … hope this helps

I just sent back a different watch and tried rebooting the charge3.
After 2 months, the display has decayed to almost nothingness.
I assume all trackers last just a few years.
